I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street when I was about 4 or 5 and being scared out of my mind. I pretty much refused to watch it but my dad has a box set with the...8 movies? I believe there were 8 but I could be wrong. Anyways, I watched it for the first time in years and I wasn't as scared as I was when I was little but I stilled jumped at certain parts. But that movie is one of my favorite horror movies. Although the last few movies weren't that great. And the idea of being killed in your sleep was genius!

But I probably won't watch the remake. Robert Englund (sp?) wasn't playing Freddy, and that's just lame. That's pretty much HIS character. And the guy they cast as Freddy is tiny and looks NOTHING like him. They should've left that movie ALONE. But that's just me :)

The original didn't really scare me, but I throughly enjoyed it.
Has one of the best musical hooks to date. xD

Heard they were making a re-make of it and I'm a little hesitant.
They're some recent remakes that came nowhere close to the original. *cough*Friday13thRemake*cough*

    Fingers crossed, I guess. ;)

Damn right, he should get that title. Robert Englund, <3. After I first saw that movie, my brother bought this huge Freddy doll that talked and he used to hide it where I couldn't see it and then make it talk when I was least expecting it... almost shit my pants on multiple occasions.

I first watched Nightmare On Elm Street when I was five. I wasn't scared of it at all.
It's the first Horror Movie I EVER watched, and that's what first got me hooked on the Horror/Slasher Genre. ^-^ I remember kissing the screen whenever Robert Englund a.k.a Freddy Kruger showed up. My favorite movies were Nightmare On Elm Street 1, and Nightmare On Elm Street 2: The Dream Warriors. I was and still am in love with Freddy Kruger. I'm not at all surprized that he snatched the number one spot with a landslide.
I'm interested in the new remake of The Nightmare On Elmstreet, but HOPEFULLY the remake doesn't deminish the reputation og the series like the remake of Friday The 13th did. *sighs* That remake was such a disappointment.

I remember when my mom's boyfriend made me and four other kids watch it when I nine. We only watched about 1/3 of it because we were too freaked out. I could probably watch it the whole way now....

I used to think it was the stupidest idea in the world. I used to think, my dreams, I don't die. YOU DO.

Freddy really is an icon. One of the more original characters to come out of the whole slasher genre and defiantly one of my favourite characters ever.

Freddy deserves the title. Not only is he scary, he is a very original idea: he can't kill you unless you're asleep and his weapon is unique. Anybody can pick up a knife, or and axe, or a machette, or a chainsaw... But custom made finger knives... The first movie was great although it has about 160 mistakes in it. The third one was good, the seventh was ok but all the others were pretty bad. In my opinion.

god damned clown, i hate it... at the end it made no sense to me what so ever.
    im like wtf?

and ive always been so frightened by Freddy, when i was younger my mom never let me watch 'the nightmare on elm street' and to this day ive barely ever watched the movies.

the only movie ive really ever watched with Freddy, was Freddy vs. Jason and thats pretty much it. xD
