Usually, I either apologize to the readers if I haven't updated in awhile or I just talk about my day and ask how they are. I only really use the plea on first chapters, and if I want their thoughts on a chapter that I'm kind of 'ehh' on.

I don't like how you made it seem like authors have to write notes or they'll appear like cold as*holes. No. That's not true at all. Readers are there to read. If I have nothing to say to them, I won't say anything.

Its the same thing I used to do when I posted stuff on here. Don't tell me I need to 'thank' my readers if I write again. I'm the one doing the work; why thank someone else?

I have to agree with you on the perspective of this article.
I know I find both the plea and the threat equally annoying, and though the thanks may serve its purpose, I rarely read them, because I honestly could care less.
The fact that you try to give if not a solution, at least an advice, is what really makes this article worthwhile.
Keep up the good work. Meanwhile I'll go find that perfect mud cake-AN! XP

Nice article :)
I absolutely cannot stand when someone says "if I don't get at least two comments, I'm not writing anymore." So annoying; aren't they writing for themselves, and not the 'fame' or whatever?

your article is really good but im just thinking it should have a little more fact like I started with blah blah blah and then this happened. Kind of thing. Not every one has the same opinion and it helps if you just say this is why I think this. I did this and now this happened you know what I mean?
maybe you do, maybe you don't but this was still a pretty good article =)
