Well there is also Camp NaNo that's done in the summer but I think more people do November NaNo lol. But yeah I agree, a different date would be cool.

I tried NaNo this year and the month is halfway over and I'm failing already D:

I hate how it's in November like everyone is in school/busy times at a lot of workplaces. Midterms, man, midterms! I did do this years ago in high school. It was fun but I'm glad those words never saw the light of day.

You basically should do it if you have the time.

It's super awesome and super fun. Super exhausting but also super rewarding!
THis is my fifth year and I'm super pumped for it.

A lot of word processing programs come up with different counts for some reason. NaNo doesn't always match my final WC either. :p Anyway, the little WC bar at the top is where you have to update until the twenty-fifth. Then you can do the whole upload or copy+paste thing to get the site to count your words. At least that's how it worked for me last year, and I uploaded on the twenty-fifth :) Yeah, there was a bunch of prizes altogether. I didn't want some of them so I don't remember them all, but Scrivener is always on the list with a discount, which is awesome, because it goes from forty to twenty dollars. If you use it on a trial basis, it actually has a feature just for NaNo where it'll keep count of your words for you, average your daily words, and so on and so forth. It's really great.

    @ jaime preciado.
I haven't won before, that's why I had to go off what their Wikipedia listed for prizes XD And I remember before they updated NaNo to the new site, how CreateSpace was offering winners free paperbacks. Other than that, I didn't know any of the other prizes.XD

Really? Hmm... The reason I say that is because what the word count on the NaNo site says vs. what my computer has are two different word counts for last year's novel I did. And I never made it to the 25th last year lol Think tehe

NaNo actually offers quite a few prizes, something I know as a four year winner not counting the camp. You get Create Space paperbacks. Scrivener lets you have a free trial during November and a fifty percent off discount to purchase it. There are also other program discounts. And there are also discounts from online self-publishers. Also, you can't actually upload your novel onto NaNo to word count it until the twenty-fifth, which is when verification begins. Up until then, you have to manually update the word count yourself.

Yep and it had Emma Wattson doing the voice of Princess Pea and i recieved a little letter or whatever on nanowrimo from the author of The Tale of Despereaux. You should read the book and watch the movie. Both are adorable.
