Thank you for providing links to the sources- those were interesting reads as well- you did a very nice job of presenting the salient parts of each of those studies, while also keeping it at a level fit for general consumption (this is a highly under appreciated, very valuable skill!). Very, very nice article. One of the most well-presented I've read on Mibba.

Humans have a "pack-mentality"- a need to be accepted and well-received in groups, just by nature.. It's the reason conformity is even a concept... it's not a bad thing to conform, to some degree.... it just becomes dangerous at a certain point.

Very well written! I do find the way our brains do things like that to be fascinating. Though, the conformity is less "everyone thinks that, so do I," and more "If that's what everyone thinks, I must be wrong/I'd rather not stand out"

Have you ever heard of the Asch conformity studied from the 50s? They validate the same thing, basically. Great article with great sources!
