Humans have a "pack-mentality"- a need to be accepted and well-received in groups, just by nature.. It's the reason conformity is even a concept... it's not a bad thing to conform, to some degree.... it just becomes dangerous at a certain point.
Very well written! I do find the way our brains do things like that to be fascinating. Though, the conformity is less "everyone thinks that, so do I," and more "If that's what everyone thinks, I must be wrong/I'd rather not stand out"
