The Atomic Bombing of Japan - Comments

If the bombing hadnt happened, the USSR( now russia) would have built there own A-bomb and the threat of MAD - Mutually Assured Destruction would have stopped the US. Just like when the world held its breath as the realities of the Cuban Missile Crisis hit home, no one would have been crazy enough to use an A-bomb when another key player also holds the same card.

If the bombing was necessary : not really. If it stopped the war and so saving lots of lives : yes. But it still was cruel and I still think that [u]no one[/u] should be allowed to produce/have nuclear bombs. US included.

I think dropping the bombs was wrong, but then I think about the invasion and all it would take. Both options are horrible. But we chose the bombs, so we don't know exactly what would have happened if we invaded.
It may just be ignorance, but I think the bombs were cruel. I would rather die then see my skin melt off my body or have glass catapulted into my body. But that's just me.

ironically, i should hate the japanese for what they did to my people, but im not. afterall, if it weren't for the Japanese, i'd have no Playstation! booyah
