Wow, I'm really glad that you posted an article about this. Most people nowadays still don't know that this happened, even in Canada.
I'm honestly bitter with the government for putting my family through that and thinking that giving them money would heal them. When I was first told this, I was in my reserve visiting family. And almost all the elders were given money, and I asked why? I've been told that it was because of the abuse from the residential schools.
And my first thought was, "Isn't it a bit late to apologize?"

Great article. The U.S. is terribly bad at teaching world history, so I had no idea that had happened at all. It's great that Canada recognized their errors.
