Actually, if you really think about it since everything in this holiday is based on pagan customs would that make it pagan as well?

Besides the bible tells us in Luke 22 to observe Jesus' death, not his resurrection. What is more important? HIs death and sacrifice, or the fact that God raised him back up? I say his death.

Easter was the day Christ rose again.
So, yeah, it actually is Christian.
But a lot of celebrations custom with Easter come from a different religion (I can't remember which, but possibly the pagan one you speak of).
The celebrations associated with Easter you're calling pagan are basically celebrating spring and birth along with the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It's not a pagan holiday, silly pants. =P

I'm really sorry but I have to say I couldn't understand half of this.

I don't know any of the pagan gods, or the way their names are pronounced, so it was really hard for me to comprhend a sentance that says

"Istar and another god whose name I can't pronouce did this on this day, and it was fun and then all these other gods who represent things I don't know did this and they had a blast"

okay, so it wasn't6 exactly like taht, but pretty much... it's an intersting subject though, I must say.

It's not necessarily the same holiday; merely that the Church decided to celebrate the Christian Easter on that date, because of Passover's general proximity, and the pagan holiday written about in the article. It's the same way with Christmas - it was strategically placed due to the celebration of the Solstice, and the symbolism of coming into light.

Christianity is just a rip off of other religions, to be blunt. Of course it isn't a Christian holiday! They just wanted to overshadow the 'heathens'.

Not totally a pagan holiday but yes, a lot of the traditions come from pagan traditions - the truly annoying one is Christmas because 1.) the Jewish people at that time did not celebrate birthdays which is why we do not get a date of Jesus' birth, and 2.) from the details given and the information about the census that was being taken he was born in either April or September.
Resurrection Sunday at least does follow the Pentecost which is when Jesus was killed and three days later rose again.

CupCake, she wasn't targeting it towards it being horrible or anything. She was just stating something that was interesting. I cared, in a sense. Not to the point where this would kill me if I didn't know, but I and many others wanted to know what the point was of the easter bunny.

very interesting. you know why easter and christmas (yes christmas too) are based on pagan holidays? so that early pagans would find it easier to convert to christianity. XD as a christian, you know, i dont really care about what the holidays used to mean, coz all they mean now is some card company gets rich and other commercial crap gets sold.

its the thought that counts, isnt it? (/sarcastic) but yeah, interesting article, a couple of things i didnt even know. =]

Hm, I've been wondering why we celebrate Jesus comming out of a tomb riding on a gaint rabit and throwing colored eggs at everyone.

Well, atleast I thought that until I found this.
lol
It cleared up a lot of misunderstanding stuff.

You'll find these connections in most religions, what starts as a tradition for one religion can easily be transformed into customary behavior for another. I am very impressed with the amount of research you put into this and all of the quotes you used to support your opinion, that's quite impressive. Not everyone researches their topic and their opinions aren't as valid as yours because of that. Fantastic work :D
