I think more people should be made aware of what really goes on in school systems today. Too many times it is just glumly accepted and shoved onto the sidelines of daily life. It makes me glad that some people in this generation took a determined step to get a message out, especially given that situation.

    Go Jersey Kids. You rock.

good I'm glad SOMEONE finally took a stand!
this country needs to see that not everything is picture perfect and we still have a lot to work on until we become something that lives up to the false image we present
These kids should get an award because they didn't use violence, they fought with sound facts and they didn't react to having food thrown at them.

I give them my smile, they have done something that others have wanted to do for years but have never had the balls to really do all they do is talk and is true that we listen to diffrent things and maybe ever read something diffrent as well but were still human, but sadly it happens at my school every day, me and my friends are beat on and if were luckie the get 5 days of ISS but I guess it just goes to show that the people who are diffrent are the ones that the teachers want to cast out of school and only keep the jocks and preps that have money becasue "there the best thing that could ever happen to there school" these kids rock for standing up for who they are and I hope that one day maybe my school will have the same thing happen so the teachers in this place will wake up to the true problem in this school and not just the drama

I'm proud of them, so many other times when kids are tired of getting made fun of, they only resort to violence. Kiddos!

Cliques aren't the problem in my opinion, but how we handle them. Obviously, people are going to form groups if they have similar interests. Cliques only become bad when you discriminate against the groups you're not it. Nice article =]

I mean, if I went to that school I probably would have participated at well. I just don't see how it was disrespectful but that's just me.

of course not. They just stood there holding hands, refusing to enter the school. No one got hurt. No weapons. Well besides the food and things the other students were throwing at them...

Thats one of the things that inspired them. the columbine shootings. the killers that killed all the kids at col discriminated ppl and it ended up in the shootings. They thought genocide was good idea. It made them sick that they and everyone else knew that it discreetly was in the back of people's mind

All they did was refuse to walk inside school and then the leader spoke...it's not really disrespectful in my opinion. They could have decided to follow Columbine and VT's example of shooting up the school.

Well, it was sort of disrespectful what they did. They could have handled it much more maturely.

I actually think it's a really cool thing that all of them stood together and didn't fold. It makes me proud that I'm from New Jersey, too.
