This is going to sound cliche. But frankly I do not care.
Insight is the first step and you are starting to provide that with this simple article. This reminds me of that song "Say it aint so, by: Weezer" But no really. Thank you.

i was reading statistics earlier and i sent them to my friend and she was like "jesus, bri! take away all my faith in humanity."

Dr. Phillip Harter of StanFURD school of medicine if we could shrink the earth’s population to village of only 100 people there would be:

    *57 Asians
    *21 Europeans
    *14 N and S Americans
    *8 Africans
    *30 white
    *70 nonwhite
*6 people would possess 59% of the world’s wealth, all 6 would be from the US
*80 would live in substandard housing
*70 would be unable to read
    *50 would suffer from malnutrition
*1 would have a college education
    *1 would own a computer

then stuff like 4 kids die every day of child abuse and 3 of the 4 are under age four. 1 child in 10 dies before the age of five in the developing world. a child dies in a developing country every 3 seconds.

You do realize that if everyone's problems were solved and every disease was cured and etc. etc. etc. We would all end up dying anyway due to problems with overpopulation such as lack of food and space and just the recreation of new diseases in the new overcrowded societies?
So we'd just end up right back to where we started.
The human race has pretty much gone to selfish shit anyway. We see to destroy everything we touch. Why save ourselves? Put effort into saving something that hasn't actually done anything wrong, like adopt a dog or cat from an animal shelter.
Maybe you can't save every dog and cat too but at least they aren't smart enough to create cars that release CO and CO2 into the air as well as many other poisons and eventually create global warming.

I agree. People are too comfortable their nest of iPods and Starbucks to look outside and care.
They just think, "Well, I can't be bothered with other people on the other side the world; one person can't make a difference."

But they CAN. We need people to realise one person can make a difference. They can tell others and the word will spread and soon enough, people WILL be able o make a difference!

This is an absolutely amazing article.
I'm only 13 but if I have a child someday, I want them to know what a whale is, and not know it to only be some extinct concept. I hate how when you turn on the news all you hear about are murders and shoot outs at McDonalds. Your article causes people to think, so keep writing :)

The question is, did people ever care?
Indifference is not a new disease, it's been around since forever.

Last year my mom gave fifty dollars to UNICEF. I think it's really sad that kids die because of poverty when they could have so much.

This is an amazing article. You wrote it so well, and you are so right!

No one cares anymore! And it just pisses me off because there are so many people suffering around the world, yet people continue to drive by in their latest car, turning down the news on the radio instead of facing the facts. People who have the capability to do something about it, won't.

    Beautiful article. Very well done.
