They should start looking into it right away. Now here's one random idea I have that I do NOT actually believe. It's just an idea that'd be interesting if it were true.
(In 2012 aliens will come to our planet with the goal of saving us from that asteroid in 2036. If we prove worthy they will save us; if not, then they'll let us die.)
Once again that was just a random idea I had; I don't actually believe that will be the case. C:

So... How many times has the human race died now? Or is proposed to die? It's stupid. If an asteroid hits the earth we're dead and there's nothing you can do about it, unless you could hide from the impact. Just wait and see what happens before anyone starts thinking about 2036, we don't know if we'll make it to 2012 yet xD

haha. zombies, yeah it could happen. ;)

anyway, I so agree, I kind of wish the government would shut up, do it's thing, and then say they saved the world to keep the stress at a minimun level. If we constantly thing something bad is going to happen, then something randomly bad will happen and everyone will be like "Oops, I didn't think of that happening." Just stop with the theories and go on vacation.

well humanity's gonna be finished off one way or another... i'm sick of hearing that we're gonna die on this day, or that day... We just need to live our lives as happily as we can, and not cowering in fear.

You know what? Screw the asteroids, we need to prepare for when the zombies come. haha:)

I don't blame them for wanting to stop it, but we're gonna die anyway, at least that way we go out with a bang! Sorry =P

We are all going to die eventually anyway. Humanity will perish with the help of nature. We are just too problematic and useless.

Shit happens right? Personally, I think most people will die from a world-spread desease. And then the sun will finish everyone else off. Or maybe we will just evolve and become animal-like in order to survive...then mother nature might take mercy on us.

What exactly are they planing on doing? Sending a Nuke? WTF that's like throwing a pop can at a train and hoping maybe it'll derail it. For all their planning and preparing and spending will get us we mite as well send all that money in a grate big bag and launch it at the stupid rock. The thing is, life happens. The Dinos knew that and they were cool with it. Sure they aren't around anymore but I bet they slept better.

That's okay, 2012 comes before that, we'll all be dead anyway.

But it's still a bit creepy..

Well, it is kind of scary to know something like that could happen, even if there's only a remote chance. They should definetly keep observing it, and take precautions... But only if they're certain :/

Warped.

Haha. XD
2000, 1999 and June 6, 2006 [6-6-06] was said for humanity to end. Now 2012. And NOW 2036!? They said all the evidence is pointing to 3797. I think we should be prepared though. Highly prepared. I watched a movie and they were going through this. They sent a neclear bomb towards it, and made it worse. A huge one with a medium sized. But they also were prepared by having underground shelter and after 2 years after the impact, they were safe.

But yeah, I think we do need to be prepared. Learn, but be prepared. I would pay millions of bucks to protect humanity. o.o

Who the crap knows. The route might change, and hopefully won't hit the Sun either, and go into a Black Hole. We should observe, but still be prepared because you never know. Like the saying goes, 'Expect the unexpected.'

And 2012-- I think nothing would happen. My friend said that something will happen, but not the world to end. I hope it's something good and not bad. We seriously need something good happen on Earth/US -_-

Let them have astronauts circle the world, and see if there is any possible threat. Exam it. We really don't need Depression to happen again... -_-

I agree with nerdy_. We should wait a few years, while still observing it, and see if the route of the asteroid will change.

v "2012" is going to happen just like the the human race died out in 2000... and 2006...

We have nothing to worry about. We're already dead; we've been so for years (9? or 3? Leave it to the conspiracy theorists to get the numbers right).

On the one hand, we should prepare for an asteroid or comet coming close to impacting the Earth. On the other, it'll cost way too much and will probably be a waste of time and money.
Perhaps we should wait a few years before we start worrying about the slim possibility? You know...after 2012 to make sure we're still alive.
