It's not a present, everyday fear in their minds. Of course the tests will show that they're more scared of spiders. Now, if they had everyday exposure to war and terrorism, or one big, shocking event that they couldn't stop thinking about, then it would be more prevalent in the tests.

Well, i this article it never specified how old these childeren were, i mean when I was 5 i was like "SPIDERS OMG #&@(&# ITS GONNA EAT ME!" but then I came home from school one day when i was six and my mom turned on the news and I saw a plane crash into the world trade center.

So i think if they asked childeren who were maybe 12, who lived in New York USA then they'd say terrorism because it effects them. I haven't heard about any terrorism in Australia, everyone loves their kangaroos!

and even now with my country in a war, and all that stuff spiders scare the hell out of me and make me cry. I mean didn't almost everyone who commented this article say about the dame thing as I did?

I don't think that children should even have to THINK about war and terrorist. I used to think that all kids should be like adults. But...Now that I'm older and "in the world" i understand the importance of everything being sugary and pink.

Not that I ever had that much. My childhood was horrible. I would be one of the few who said "Terrorisim" or most likely "My mother", thanks to her, my childhood went down the drain.

I just hope that kids now-a-days have a better life than I do.

This article got me thinking that I should be worried about my house getting blown up because of the fact that I live on a Naval Base, but I never really think that it could happen, when it could.. O.o (unless if it can't.. idk I'm still new to the whole Navy thing, i've only been a navy brat for a year and a few months)

It's only because kids figure war doesn't affect them. It basically isn't real to them.

I mean think about it unless someone you love is in the war then it's horrible yes, but spiders are there. Right in front of you.

    Get it?

I don't think kids have a general idea what war can do.
They dont fear it because they're taught to believe that we'll always win or something. I dunno, It's a guess.

Like if we are talking about little little kids, then that would make some sense. We don't want tosubject our kids to a topic like that, so they might not exactly understand what it is an what exactly it does.
Spiders on the other hand, they are freaking everywhere.

Plus I hate spiders a freaking lot lol.

Thats because in Australia we have no war, no terrorism. So little kids dont know much about it. But we do have HUGE,creepy, highly poisenous spiders that scare the living shit outta you and trust me, you do NOT want to wake up to see a Black Widow right in your face.

That would make sense. Many children don't exactly think about the war in a normal day. But if you ask them straight out, different story

Well, living in a house that often gets red backs and huntsmans, I tend to get very scared of spiders. They are my biggest fear but that's only because I haven't grown up in a place where war is associated with us. We hear about it, but we've never experienced it.

theres not much war or terrorism in Australia, I'm sure if they did this survey in other parts of the world they would get different results depending on the area the child lives.

    That's kind of silly, hehe.

I'm not afraid of spiders. War kinda scares me, but if I was in a place where it's more likely to happen, I'd be shit scared.
