I read that article, and it helped a bit, I just had a bit of a hard time understanding everything haha (There were a lot of big medical words). But thank you! And I'll be sure to check out that book! Thanks again!July 29th, 2013 at 05:23pm

I can send you some information, although my recommendation is if you can get a hold on the book, David Holmes, Abnormal, Clinical and Forensic Psychology thats where I get my infro from. Also:

I'm currently working on a story in which one of the characters has schizophrenia; any and all information would be greatly appreciated. I've done a lot of research already, and I've actually read a diary of a man who suffered from it. Of course, one can never do too much research, so like I said, any other help regarding things such as when symptoms start to show, how rapidly it happens, etc. would be awesome! I enjoyed this article very much!July 28th, 2013 at 09:14pm

Your point is valid, and noted for suture reference :)July 28th, 2013 at 12:20pm -

In the historical aspect I think it would work, though putting it in a direct quote may have made it work better. Then it'd be clear that those were the words Kraeplin used and help to avoid confusion.July 26th, 2013 at 03:10pm -
this has actually convinced me to do a lot more research on schizophrenia. it's something a lot of people in my family have, but i don't know a whole lot about it. i really appreciate how informative your article was. :)July 26th, 2013 at 11:36am

This is true, and 'insanity' and 'madness' are words that in any Psychological essay I write, I would avoid at alln costs. However my reason for using these words withing this article is valid; Kraeplin (the 'inventor' of Schizophrenia) used such terms, and so in some ways it is appropriate.
Though since you mention it, I regret using them lolJuly 26th, 2013 at 09:17am -
Your article was very good, and quite informative. I enjoy that you put in some of the history of the disorder. However, I would stay away from using the term insanity in this article. Insanity is not a medical or psychological term. Insanity is a legal term given to those who commit a crime at a time when they were unable to distinguish that their actions were morally or legally wrong. Insanity is often confused with psychosis, which is a mental break with reality, something that some schizophrenics do suffer from.July 26th, 2013 at 06:08am
