OMG. YOU ARE SO RIGHT! At school, I'm constantly being told that the only reason I'm obsessed with sports is because of the players' looks. Ever thought maybe I truly like rugby, or soccer, football, baseball, whatever? And yes, I'm American, if you were wondering. Anyway, sure, a few guys may be cute, but that's not the reason why I like sports. And the last paragraph? Freakin' AWESOME! You made me literally LOL, and gave me a big smile. Such a great article, I definitely give this two thumbs up. This was just amazing. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

This is wonderful - thank you for writing this!

If I had a dime for every time I've been labeled that, I'd have the Trump beat on Forbes! So what if I like wearing my teams' colors to school on game days (Go Pens!). Isn't that what everyone else does on our school teams' game days?

I enjoy hockey for the talent and the passion and the game.
The player's looks are just a plus. =]

i totally agree with you. just because you're a girl, doesn't make u a puck bunny. i love hockey and although there are some good looking players, that's not why i enjoy the sport. i love ice, and i figure skate so hockey is something that i can kind of relate to. i also grew up listening to my parents who are die hard Rangers fans. i hate it when people assume that just because i am a girl, i am a puck bunny. i love setting those haters straight! :P

I can tell you from experience that I have "shot down" a lot of these girls for attempting to talk to me about hockey. Like b.emma said, they're only there to make eye contact with the players during pre-game warm-up and could give a flying Matt Cooke elbow about the sport itself or the players' talent.

Sadly, living in Pittsburgh and going to games means we have a ton, and I mean a ton, of these types of girls swarming the arena. Please, just grow up and keep your pink out of the rink. Dx

The puck bunnies are the girls who purposely flaunt themselves at hockey games and throw themselves at the hockey players. The regular fans are the ones doing the same thing the men are.

I just recently got into hockey after moving to Colorado, and I continue to watch today. I had to move back to Arkansas, but I love it! My mom gets irritated because I'm screaming at the tv. Trust me...I'm a sucker for hockey players, but if I go to a game...it's not because I want in their pants. It's because I want a good time screaming and watching something other than "uhhh....football"

So I didn't really get into hockey until I started watching my boyfriend and his brother play on their house league team (which would have been around the end of October-ish, I think). Most people would say that if you don't like hockey, you're not Canadian (despite the fact that I am). And yeah, there are a lot of attractive players on his team. But I don't go for the team members. I go for two reasons. The first is to support my boyfriend and his team, and the second is to watch the game. I know when the refs make a bad call or miss a call, and I know a lot of the terminology now. I'm genuinely interested.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if anyone called me a puck bunny, I would probably pull all of my hockey knowledge out and then kick their butt. Hockey isn't just a sport for guys anymore, and girls don't just go after the players. I really enjoyed reading this article and I'm glad that someone posted it (: Great job.

I hadn't known people were labeling female hockey fans as 'puck bunnies.' That's really horrible. Guys (and girls sometimes) can be so stupid about these things. :P

And by the way, near the beginning of your article, you had written 'this couldn't be far from the truth.' That means that it has to be close to the truth. Should probably be farther/further, though I can't remember which form applies. :/

Yeah, I really like this article you posted. I get called a puck bunny in school because I wear a Penguins jersey every time they have a game during the week. I watched hockey ever since I was 7. I love all of the Pens though. My favorite hockey player is Sidney Crosby.

Yeah, some girls just like him because of his looks. You can critizize me because of it, but I have something to share.

I went to a Penguins practice in the middle of September. My parents decided to take me to it as a Christmas present from the previous year they weren't able to take me to. I went and these two girls kept on asking everyone when Sidney was coming onto the ice. They were two blond girls with blue eyes. I have blond hair and blue eyes and that is an insult to me. I know every rule in the game and I know stupid calls when I see them. I walked up to them and told them that 'do you really think he is going to give a girl who doesn't know anything about hockey the time of day.' I didn't see them when he did come onto the ice.

I mean it took me THREE YEARS to actually think ANYTHING of Sid. I like him because of his talent on the ice. He tries hard and never stops trying. If it wasn't for the knee problems I have now I would still be playing hockey.

I was forced to quit because of it. I played on an all guys team until it was officially said by my doctor that I couldn't play any sports for the rest of my life because of my knees. Guys just need to understand that girls can like hockey without being puck bunnys.

I've never really been judged for being a girl that likes hockey, but I can see how others may be.
That first quote confused me, though. She likes hockey because anyone can play it, regardless of race or color? That's every sport, if I'm not mistaken.

This is what i'm talking abouttt <3
Guys jump to the gun when it comes to female hockey fans. I mean what if we were to judge them on the football team because of the cheerleaders!?
People need to look around and see that most of the fans that can rattle the stats off like its nothing are the female fans.
You're amazing for posting thisss!

I don't think this comment it going to come out properly. I'm just spilling words here.

I can't say I've ever been judged or labeled as a puck bunny, but I'd probably kick whoever called me one. So I have a favorite player? Yeah, it's because of his number and the goal he made that made me notice him. So he's got a pretty face? It took me a month to think so. I think what the players do helps our attraction grow. When you actually know what's going on with the game, you appreciate the players more which could be why they'd throw us a puck and not one at a puck bunny.

I definitely agree with this article. Even my family tries to label me as a Puck Bunny sometimes, and they're all shocked when I come back at them and beat their asses at any and all hockey knowledge. It's about the sports, the attractive guys playing it just happen to be a perk to enjoying the game

I would have to say I've never been judged for loving hockey at all. 99% of the time a guy will find out I like hockey, mention he's impressed, and then we'll start talking teams and stats and recent games. The 1% is when a guy finds out I like hockey, but he doesn't like hockey ;)

I hadn't realized there was such a problem with this. I feel kind of lucky not to have to suffer through that.

*bows down and praises this article*

Thank you so much for writing this. I can't tell you how many time I've had guys judge me for wearing Versteeg or Sharp on my back. Just because I wear shirts with either Blackhawk players or the logo on it doesn't mean that I watch them for the looks of the players. Yes, Patrick Sharp is damn sexy expecially with a beard. And yes Ryan Miller is a hot goalie, but I'm also not afraid to admit that the men that I hold on a platform for their looks occasionally suck on the ice. I will sit there and yell at Duncan for causing two turn overs in our zone. I know hockey. I've known hockey from the moment I took my first breath. That's how I was raised. And I'll be damned if I hear someone tell me I'm a puck bunnie one more time.

I couldn't agree with this article more.

It's actually kind of funny how everyone (females included) label me as a puckbunny when I tell them I watch hockey and go to games regularly. And it's even funnier when I argue my points with boys who've been playing and watching hockey since they were young. I know more about the sport than they do and yet, I'm still labled as some sort of athlete-chasing-whore.

Thanks for writing this awesome article and defending us hockey loving girls =)

I agree a billion percent with this article!

And, just saying, Martin Brodeur is the most attractive player in the league. Mine.

I say that not only because of his looks, of course. He's a record-breaking goalie and he's absolutely fantastic.

I'm also a huge Devils fan, so even if he was terrible, I'd still say he was a great player. :D

Wow, this aritical made me smile because it's truth. My Step brother and step dad think that I only like the Pittsburgh Penguins because of Sideny Crosby. But of corse it's not the truth, I love the whole team not for looks but for talent and what they do to make their fans happy.
