Haha. Good article.
When at first, someone told me the world was going to be sucked into a black hole, i was all WTF??
Then I read the article on CERNs website and I got really excitedd...This experiment is a really big breakthrough for physics!

But yet, so many retarded people thought the world was gonna end xD I just said to them, I trust CERN. And Stephen Hawking. CERN and STephen Hawking are some of the most intelligent people on earth. Trust them.

LOL.

nice article

"Also, dark, we would feel pain by being sucked into a black hole. We'd be ripped apart. O.o"

Actually, if it did, which it didn't obv XD, we wouldn't. It would be over in a matter of seconds. It's that quick so we wouldn't even know. It's like, turning round and going "Hey! -" and that's it, you're gone...

A reason I thought It wouldn't end the world, is because, well, they know HIGH-BROW Physics.
Have to be pretty smart to know that, right?

Ahh, one of my science geek friends explained all of this to me.
There were year sevens crying at my school...

Cool..
I heard people gushing over "the world might end today!" a few days ago at school, and I was wondering what all the fuss was about.
Great job.

I thought that they were also looking for Dark Matter particles. I know they have a research machine for that somewhere in the world already, but I thought that this experiment would also try to explain it..

lol i see what you mean about the pain/nerves dark. if we *did* get sucked into a black hole then yeah, that's probably what would happen, seeing as if even light cant escape it we're probably going to get sucked in pretty fast :3
come to think of it, a black hole isn't that bad a way to die (er.. not that I want to die) haha
>> why do people keep saying blown up? lol

This is a good article. Very good researching and nice way of putting things. I personally wouldn't mind if we blew up but for all those optimists out there good for you. :]]

Won't we be sucked into a black hole so fast that our nerves won't have time to transmit information to our brains telling us that we feel pain?
At least I want to believe that.
._.
There are worse ways of destroying our planet than black holes. Like nuclear wars. Black hole sounds ... honorable.

haha yeah, I agree with Kurtni, we won't die: (1) the black hole will give out more radiation than it takes in and vanish, (2) It'll be going at near relativistic speeds when it's created and basically shoot out of here before anything bad happens orrr (3) it'll take an immense amount of time for it to gain enough mass for it to be a threat to us. By that I mean we'll be long dead before it's dense enough to suck in the Earth
Not really an article reader but good article ;D

For those of you worried about black holes- read up on Hawking Radiation, it'll put your mind at ease =]

Spaztastic: Well, hopefully it'll be a pretty fast ripping.

Great article! I can tell you did loads of research that I hardly understood...Science confuses the hell out of me.

There's always room for error. They don't know everything. They could create a black hole and make it turn out the The Mist. They weren't planning on monsters coming out their black hole.
Maybe it won't happen. No one knows. The only know what their data says, and so far it's saying we're safe. They've said the probability of the Collider making a black hole big enough to suck us in is in the same category of it making pink elephants.
Hopefully it stays that way.

Also, dark, we would feel pain by being sucked into a black hole. We'd be ripped apart. O.o
I love this field of science. I'm planning on going into it for college.

But... the article just said they were too small to harm us... so it doesn't matter if they do create a black hole by mistake.

:-|

Which they will... since its sort of a byproduct of what they're doing. Whatever that is. Something sciency.

Oddly, the idea of a black hole destroying the earth doesn't bother me that much anyway *shifty eyes*

Good article!

I heard about this on the news the other day. I'm not the biggest science geek but it's safe to say that I do understand now what all the fuss was about.
However, I don't think we should underestimate humanity's potential for self-destruction and say hop before we jump. I'm sure we could easily create a black hole by mistake.
-sigh-
But it's not like we'll feel any kind of pain when we'll get sucked in and turned to non-matter.

Ha, I love the title of this article.

I can tell you did some serious research and put in a lot of effort and that shows in the quality of your article. Good job =]
