I have pet rats, so this testing hits close to home for me. I am very against it, and I would gladly take an innocent rat's place to be tested on. As long as I'm out cold when they use needles :P
Also, sometimes animals don't react to things the same way humans would. For example, if someone was testing out chocolate, if they gave it to a dog, the dog might die. Humans, for the most part, aren't allergic to chocolate! I think animal testing isn't all that accurate. And half the crap they're testing out is worthless, anyway!

Oh and by the way, human testing does exist.

Animals, as well as humans, will eventually die.

    Enough said.

with the advances in technology, i think that we could find better testing methods. testing on animals really is cruel. especially for useless things(cosmetics) that aren't worth risking lives(whether they be animals or humans).
but i do eat meat and have relatives that are farmers. they are treated well when alive, so im not so against eating meat. but of course, that's just me. =p

i dont agree with animal testing for cosmetics, but without animal testing, there would be no biomedical science. and i bet something that a lot of people dont know is that th VP of PETA, Mary Beth Sweetland, has diabetes and uses insulin created thanks to research done on dogs to keep her alive.

To those who say we NEED animal testing, why do some of your products say "Never TESTED on animals"? IF we NEED testing then WHY are some NOT tested? Honestly, animals are not here for us to abuse... IT reminds me of my joke "Adddaa-Daaa I wonda wha-wha that animal tastes like?" Cuz people eat anything that freakin crawls... -kassi

we have fake skin that gives the same exact effect as a real animal.
so, remind me now. why are we still using innocent animals?

do mice and monkeys and rabbits wear make up, or use diet pills? i mean, seriously.

    go vegetarian!
    animal cruelty is dumb!

I'm still not sure on where my stand is on animal testing. I'll agree that testing cosmetics on animals is pointless and useless, but it may be more necessary for the medical field. Insulin for diabetes was developed from a dog's pancreas, and this is how it was discovered that diabetes stems from the pancreas's insufficient level of hormone insulin.

In theory ending animal testing sounds great, but in practice it might be a completely different story.

    SAY NO TO ANIMAL TESTING.
I DO LIKE MAKE-UP BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BE TESTED ON ANIMALS SO WE SHOULD STOP RIGHT NOW OTHERWISE THERE WIL BE NO MICE OR RABBITS LEFT.

say animal testing stops and they now have to test on humans or find a new way to test products
what happens if theis new method is not as good and a good % of human life is lost
    what would you say then?

Actually animals and people are equally valuable to the world. I much rather be in the company of my pets than other people, they don't judge you in any as long as they know they can trust you. But the testing isn't necessary, because most of the results are the complete opposite of the results on humans.

i TOTALLYsee where you getting at.. but i would just liek to say, the argument FOR animal testing is: would you rather test this stuff on humans and if it doedn't work, kill aninnocent HUMAN life.... i'm sorry but humans are value more that mice and bunnies :(
