So you support blackmail?
However strongly you feel about animal rights, nobody can sanction the actions of SHAC, which are so clearly illegal and wrong on a moral level.

I support those guys 100%
Since when is saving animal's life a crime? Anyone who tests on animals should get hate mail, and their labs destoryed, and horribly, painfully killed, just like those poor animals. There's NO reason to test on them! It's not the animals fault that we have cancer. They should test it on their own freakin selves!
If you support that, you obivously don't think as animals as humans too. They feel the same as us. How would feel if you were those animals, and got painfully injected, then possibly killed by it?
I support those guys, and hope those people continue to get "hate mail". They're terrible, and the desvere it.

Good. I can't stand extremists.

I don't agree with animal testing, either, but being obnoxious and pig-headed solves nothing.

I dont agree with testing on anilmals in any way at all. i dont eat animals i dont test on them. im not gon ago into hippy rant about how they have feelings blah blah ... but they test on animals because people dont want drugs tested on them but at the end of the day how many of these crtters would come forward for testing if they had a choice ?

BUT on the other hand the way these people went about protesting was WAY WAY wrong what does a used condom have anything to do with the point of protest ? please clear that one up for me.

bleh poor animals they deserve better :/

totally get where they're coming from, but they went about in the most immature way.
all they did was waste time to fail to prove a point.
come on, you guys are clearly grown ups, stop acting so immature.

it's pretty sad that a bunch of kids here are being so civil and mature about their thoughts and opinions,
and we have adults pulling stunts like this.
sigh... some people.

I am a huge campagnier (sp?) for animal rights and do not agree in the testing on animals, but if it is for a good beneficial medical prupose then we shud use it, but not test it on so many ranges of animals. they kill like sooo many animals just for one product when really they shud lower that hugh figure down. I did think we these actviststs did was pretty extreme, but I do understand their need to stop animals being torchered in the most undiginified of ways.

Having done a lot about animal testing in Biology, I feel that animal testing for medical purposes is both useful, and in many cases neccesary.
Stem Cell Research simply cannot live up to some of the tests which need to be carried out, and it's incredibly irresponsible to perform this research on people, some of whom would have no idea what they'd be getting themselves into.

Think about it; if you had the cure for cancer, but you had to kill 100 mice to get it, would you? The number of animals tested on is always kept to a minimum, and the lives saved far outweigh the test subjects, many of whom prove to be fine anyway.

Animal Testing in the cosmetic industry, on the other hand, is just wrong. It's inexcuseable for animals to suffer just so that we can have makeup or beauty products, and it should never have been legalised in the first place.

I'm a huge animal rights activist but I do think what these people did was wrong and they should pay the consquences.
I'am very much against animal testing for medical and beauty testing. Only 1.16% of human illnesses are ever seen in animals. What's the use of hurting and torturing animals over and over again if there is such a little possibility that a positive effect will come out of it for humans?
And rat/mice aren't the only ones tested on. Dogs, cats, birds, monkeys, farm animals, fish, rabbits and other domestic and wild animals are tested on.
Worldwide, at least 22 animals die every second in labs. In the UK one animal dies every five seconds.

With that said I'll leave with this quote which describes how I feel about animal testing.
"Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally OK to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are not like us.' Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction."

I don't have a problem with animal testing, as long as it's for something beneficial. If someone was developing a cure for cancer, I wouldn't go in there and stop them from testing it on rats, now would I?

Yes, we should definitely stop animal testing for medical reasons. It just completely makes sense. In fact, I think all the people that are so against animal testing for medical reasons should volunteer themselves to be tested on.

Why poke the poor little rat/mouse when we could poke you, right?

good, its about time these nutters learned that they can't get away with their nonsense, I'm susprised something was done though, government tend to be quite strange when it comes to animals, don't understand it myself, not against animal testing at all

I work with mice all the time in the lab and I just wish these people would understand that we aren't just sitting around torturing them for fun - they're being used for ligtimit scientific research like development of vaccines! I hate these people and I hope this sets a president so that more of these lunatics are convicted in the future!!!

I'm all for protecting animals and I am defiantly against animal testing for Human medicine but there is a time, a place, and a way to protest and the way those people did it were wrong.

Dude, as long as animal testing isn't for cosmetics or soaps, it's not terrible. Animal testing is for medical advances, and it's not like they use puppies or kittens. They use mice.
