I feel sorry for him that he is in such a condition, but I don't think should just let him die. Isn't that like, practically suicide? Taking your own life by choice. And the people and nurses going along with it, wouldn't that be like, accomplice to suicide? I think this is wrong on so many levels.

I'm glad he's allowed to choose to die, since that's what he wants to do. But I think it's so cruel that he has to starve to death, simply because assisted suicide is illegal. He should be able to go quickly. Overall, though, this is a step in the right direction.

I wouldn't say its a walk in the park having a condition like he does. I think the fact they gave him the right to let him die though is wrong. Apparently I'm the only one, or at least one of the few.
If suicide is wrong, and illegal why should this be legal?
Not to mention its going to be slow and painful. I think the court cases must have been worse for him than his current situation.
There are a lot of people that had illnesses and conditions they don't want to and shouldn't have to live with, but none of them are legally allowed to do this; to be simple I don't see the difference in this case and a lot of the others.
    This is murder, full stop.

i remember reading my psychology book about Terri..sad...her family kept on saying that she always smiled when one of them entered the room, but doctors were saying that the smile meant that she wasn't acknowledging them, and her husband wanted to put her out of her pain... it was just a neural impulse or something...i miss my book...=[

Wait... no sustenance and no water? I don't want to detract from the emotional part, but wouldn't that take a painstakingly long time for him to pass?

Good on him. He should be allowed to do that if he wants. Hell, if I was in that situation where I was wheelchair or bed bound for the rest of my life, I would probably wanna go that way too.

I love it how some of the conditions were that he be given painkillers and allowed to watch Foxtel haha.

I only wish that they would relax the laws on assisted suicide. As it stands now, this poor man will have to starve to death. If assisted suicide were legal, then he could go in a peaceful, painless and dignified manner.
This is a victory though, I must say. As someone who's pro-euthanasia, it's nice to see that there are places in the world that are actually considering peoples' basic right to decide if they live or die.

I find it sad, but overall it's his body and he should be able to decide what he wants to do with it.

I would want to die too if that happened to me.

Death is also our born rights should we request it with a condition like this man.

    If that's what he wants.

I would hate it to. Being trapped like that, it would be awful.

I would want to die if I was like that, especially if I was in the same position as Terry Schiavo. I would not want to live in a vegetative, because you're not really even living anymore. She had an extensive amount of irreversible brain damage.
