During a year in college my Junior Year actually a few of the teachers namely my Spanish and Theater teacher used a website to submit written works. While my Spanish homework was probably just for ease of grading and receiving grades if we were doing written homework for an assignment but my theater teacher used it to check for plagiarism and will give a percentage of plagiarism on the website Turnitin.com and over a certain percent I you would get 0 and I believe disciplinary action and mine was rather low and it didn't seem to recognize my cite or I thought it was common sense or already knew it. In school depending I'm either citing by MLA for English and non Science classes then APA or similar Scientific citing for any and all science papers so maybe when my citing it didn't recognized who it was sited.

Fantastic article about a real problem. I am a TA for my physics teacher at a community college, and I caught an entire back row of students copying word for word from a website for homework answers. I brought it to the teacher's attention, and it made me furious when he said not to do anything about it. No penalty at all whatsoever. However, in the college's handbook, the students could, in reality, receive zeros for the assignment and maybe even be kicked out of school. It makes me angry that he, the teacher, could absolutely do something about it, but he refuses to, and I'm not sure why.

That's a community college for you. Perhaps they'll learn the value of doing their own work at a university. It's a shame.
