    K. You really need to not take her ONE music video so literally. CLEARLY she was connecting it to Romeo and Juliet as a way to explain how strong the love between the two people are. And that does not make her an idiot. Maybe you're the idiot for caring so much.

I'm not an avid listener of Taylor Swift and I haven't seen the video, but I have heard parts of the song... and I didn't particularly find it appealing.
But I can see why some of the romantics out in the world might.

Maybe she did come up with the video concept, maybe she didn't... who knows.

    Kudos for writing this, though.

    :XD I liked reading this.

I liked the video. I guess I didn't think too much about it. I can't handle bad endings, anyway. I could never read Romeo and Juliet.

But I love your opinion. I don't know. You, and your stories, make me laugh.

Well, it's a little unfair to blame her for the costumes, since that would be the director's fault, not hers.

I think the point of the song was to have a happy ending, and she needed a well-known love story to parallel it with. The difficulty is that she completely misinterpreted Romeo & Juliet; it's not about honest-to-God true love, it's about two stupid teenagers with an infatuation. And I didn't really understand the reference to "The Scarlet Letter" either...

I say this the whole time. Mostly in jest though, I would never take her too seriously. It's generally just a funny thing to say to my friends when we're music channel surfing.

I'm surprised you left out the fact that she mentioned The Scarlet Letter.
That comes out of nowhere and is completely unrelated to the point.

It's a decent song, but I'd say that's the only 'idiotic' thing about it.

I don't think she was trying to make the song exactly like the actually story....
And just because a person mixes up facts, doesn't make them stupid...

    Besides...
Most people wouldn't want to listen to a song where everybody dies at the end...
It would be a total kill joy....

    Who is Taylor Swift?

Who cares if she changed the story or Romeo and Juliet? It was ruined long before she had anything to do with it. Leonardo DiCaprio anyone?

And I agree with Mad in the blood. Other stars her age are out there doing worse things than making an inaccurate music video.

God forbid someone write a historically inaccurate song. Let's just forget calling other stars her age idiots for doing drugs, endangering their lives and the lives of others, and being assholes in general. No, let's go and call a perfectly normal teen pop star an idiot for making a few little bloopers in her video (which, by the way, she didn't even direct).
    Because that totally makes sense.

Taylor Swift was not trying to make Love Story exactly like Romeo and Juliet. She was just referring to it to show that the 'Romeo' and the 'Juliet' in the song were not supposed to love each other. She didn't intend for them to die, and she wasn't writing the song to literally match the play exactly.

The fact that you're complaining about her means she's not an idiot.

She's probably not the one who made the plans for the music video. She's not an idiot for mixing up a few facts, you know. No, I'm not a fan, but she's not an idiot (probably).

I don't think her song was to portray Romeo and Juliet but to probably show girls that everyone can find their "Romeo".
    She's not an idiot.

I can't say she is an idiot because I do not know her personally, but her songs sound all the same to me.

I know nothing of her and her songs, but who's to say she didn't know the facts of Romeo and Juliet? Personally, I hate that play with a passion, but she might have just decided to put her own twist on it instead of keeping to tradition. It's unorthodox, but at least it's something different.

I don't think it was actually supposed to portray "Romeo and Juliet," so much as it was just... I don't know; the way every teenage girl wants to find her "Romeo".

Yeah, I've never even seen the video though.

There's actually a lot of characters who don't die- like Montague, Capulet, Lady Capulet, the Nurse, the Prince, Friar Laurence, and Benvolio.

    But whatevs. ;)
