Comments? Seriously? Why? - Comments

  • I'm sure,i saw the title and laughed after our convo lol but i gotta say, agree with every point in this journal. Though as a writer, i'd be badass to like, tape a box to your chest that says "comments" idk maybe i'd be the only one trying it XD

  • Feedback helps me learn what I need to improve upon. It's true that you won't get comments on things you publish in the real world, but isn't Mibba supposed to help you grow to a level where you don't need those comments anymore? We all have to start somewhere, and I feel much more invigorated to write when people are actually reading it.

  • Every time I see someone beg for comments after a chapter, I refuse to comment.

    I do the same thing.

  • I never see the point in doing that.

  • xXxSayCheesexXx: And that's a good thing, which I totally agree with you on. Receiving comments is a great way to know what direction your writing is going in, and it is one of the things I love about Mibba. But it's not classy and mature to demand them.

  • Asking for feedback seems essential to me. Sure you won't get comments after every chapter in a real book, but it's a nice gesture on Mibba. Authors just would like to know whether you like there story or not, and advice for future chapters. That's, afterall, a part of the purpose of Mibba: for writers to talk and advise other writers. I always write Comments?Suscribe? on my author note. There's nothing wrong with asking.

However, I agree with you on demanding for comments and threatening to stop writing. I write for advice more than anything (knowing if your good or bad is something I like to know), but even without comments, I would continue to write.

Comments are just a part of Mibba.

  • Looouise: That's actually quite funny in writing humor. It's like you're easy going and although you like receiving comments, you're fine with letting your readers comment on their own free will.

  • Comment. Subscribe. Whatever.
    ^^what about that??
    That's what I say.

  • A.Broken.Mess.: That doesn't make you less of a writer. I often say "comments are appreciated," because they are, you know. And it always feels great to hear what people loved most about your chapters. I'm mainly refering to people who stop writing because no one is leaving them comments. They're being winey babies almost. And, yes, a push in writting is often needed, but should never be demanded.

Spike: "Please comment!" is definitely not begging, especially with the little "!" at the end, lol. It's more of an excitement over the chapter you just wrote and you want to know if others liked it, as well. Now, if you had added a "now!" at the end, that would be another story...no pun intended...lol

  • I always ask for feedback because I want to know if I made an error in the story or if something really touched someone in a way. And I also 'wh***' out some of my stories and I always comment another persons story when they comment mine or it's just a really good story. Does that make me less of a writer?

And yes I agree that writers should write for themselves but sometimes it gives a person a little push to write more when someome else wants them too.

  • I often leave "Please comment!" on some chapters, but I wouldn't say.. Begging for it, xD. I always say thanks when I get them though, otherwise.. I never really think about it, I have other important things to do. But yes, I agree, people who threaten to delete their stories are rather... Daft because they've just put in all that hard work and then.. POOF. It's gone.
