Thanks for all the useful advice (in which, in some cases, really is obvious to me). I already do pretty much everything you listed, but this helped me refresh my technique, and really showed my why I use the techniques I do. Thanks again!

I came up with my idea for National Novel Writing Month by going outside. :D

I sat on a huge rock by a stream, and held this big stick that I carry around when I go outside, and just started telling myself a story... I started with a few characters, and it just went crazy from there. Awesome things happen when you let your imagination run loose.
