Usually my school does something to pay tribute to those who died on 9/11. The secretary came over the intercom and said that the classes could join in a moment of silence, but my teacher continued talking. I stayed quiet but I just found it so rude that they didn't really care this time. :(

Well, I see it more as... everyone knows that 9/11 has happened and everyone has shared how they feel about it (perhaps not on Mibba, but... you get what I mean) we're all aware of what it is and what happened and it's the point now where it's like... what else is there today? Every year we can re-live the stories of how we found out, etc. But it's done.

But the VMA's is something that just happened and when stuff just happens everyone like the share their opinion on it, etc, and therefore it will seem like more people are interested.

So I don't think it's a matter of interest, or importance, it's a matter of currency. Over the years I've shared things like how I found out about 9/11 etc plenty of times, it feels like it's all been said. But the VMA's just happened and I haven't really talked about it to anyone I know yet...

if that made any sense. I probably sound like I'm putting them on the same level, I'm not meaning to.

I think that the VMAs would kind of be a little more popular because it happened the day before.
I know that 9/11 was really sad, and a lot of people died and it's really a depressing time. But it was eight years ago, my school doesn't even have that minute of silence anymore.
It's like those great tragedies that people, yes the do remember, but it isn't necessarily their main topic for the day.
    We'll, that's what I think.

    So... my feelings on this?

Obviously 9/11 was a horrible, horrible tragedy. But when I think of it, I think of Bush's presidency. How he used it as an excuse to start a war in Iraq. And all the bad things that came along with it.

It makes me think of his term, and how he turned a tragedy into an unnecessary war. How he didn't think of those who died, just finishing daddy's failed project.

But now, Obama is president. And I feel like the country can finally start moving on, and seeing it for the tragedy it was. Everything surrounding 9/11 feels different. It doesn't feel like a justification for Bush's reign of terror. It feels like... the past.

Something we won't ever forget, but can finally move past, and start fresh.

And maybe others feel that way, and that's why there were really no journals on it.

Also, the VMAs were a couple days after 9/11. The journals would have happened on the 11th. So... that's the reason for the change in topics.

This was the first year I didn't really feel anything about 9/11. Last year I had a 9/11 theme.

I know what you mean, but I think last year, there were tons of them...I didn't see a lot of specials about 9/11 on TV that much. Besides in the morning, you know.

I respect that, and this journal isn't saying that everyone should HAVE to make a journal about it. I'm just saying that it kind of strikes me as odd that the VMAs gets so much more attention than 9/11.

9/11 I didn't write a journal about it because to me that's something personal I talk with my father, who served in Iraq for 15 months the first time and 12 the second. I have my father for that. It's personal to me even for Mibba, I think.
