black bird, Miley didn't neccesarily ask to be topless for a magazine shoot. Yes, Vanity fair is known for doing those types of shoots, but I read that the photographer, Annie Lebowitz (or however you spell it) kept pushing for the photoshoot to be like that until Miley finally agreed. I think it was a bad idea for her to do it because she's pretty young, and people are going to take it the wrong way, and even then, it's not appropriate. Her parent's should've known this and said no to the photoshoot. I highly doubt Miley did it because she wanted to look a little risque, that wasn't the intention. But was it a bad idea? Yes, just like the other photo's of her in her bra were a bad idea, too. But I've said this a millio times before regarding Miley: people only make a huge deal because she's a Disney star and has so many younger kids looking up to her. I know girls much younger than her who have done so much worse, which is why I'm never fazed when people complain about her. And yeah, I'm a fan of Miley, but she doesn't make very good desicions sometimes and needs to cover up at points. I really do think she means well, but I'm older than her and don't really look up to her. If I ahd kids, I'd let them listen to her music and watch her shows and what-not. I'd just be sure to tell them, "just because Miley Cyrus dresses a certain way doesn't mean that it's okay for you to do it, too."

But she's a teenager, and this is what so many teenagers do.

I really agree with this, though. If people are going to go off on Miley, then they should go off on the underage guy's running around shirtless all the time. I don't have a problem with shirtless guys, obviously, but it just seems a bit...I dunno...sexist in some ways, to be quite honest.

Miley Cyrus is a baddd "role model" i would never want any of the younger kids to look upto her.
and even if we ignore this vanity fair photoshoot, on the basis that it was "just professional" how can you ignore the kind of picture she takes of herself and posts it online?
and taylor launter is doing that for a character which recquires being topless.

I would agree but Cyrus wasn't playing a character from a book which clearly states the character is almost always shirtless. Unlike Lautner.

I understand why you'd be upset, but you have to realize that Miley completely set herself up for it. Vanity Fair is a magazine notorious for being sexy. She had to have known when she did the photo shoot that they would portray her in that light. Also, Taylor wasn't doing it in the movie to be sexy, he was doing it because in the book it says his shirt rips of when he turns into a werewolf. The double standard that society has created does kind of suck, to be truthful, because, hey, I wouldn't mind running around topless and wild, but you have to realize Miley is still at fault here.

I found Taylor's pictures verging on sexual poses. He was 17 - a year older? Yes.
But I guess that's the way things are.
Again - my opinion. If you don't like it that's fine.

Eh I don't see much difference between Miley Cyrus now and Britney Spears back in the day. I watch Britney Spears video clips when I was 7, 8 years old and I'm fine. Kids who see Miley Cyrus will also be fine.

Besides has anyone seen how 16/17 year olds act these days? How is she any difference? (oh right, she has 7 and 8 year old looking up to her... the parents are responsible for what they see, not her)

Well that's just fine then. xD
Can't blame me for an eye grabbing title though! hehe. ^___^

    quinn in wonderland?
Ah, I guess I see where you're coming from. I admit I didn't take into account their job positions - I figured since they where both in Disney that the same "rules" would apply. Thanks for your opinion. It was well put, and I respect that~

My only problem with this journal is that I'd really rather not go topless and run wild.:) My boobies are nice and secure inside my clothes. :D

I agree completely. It's not a big deal.

Miley Cyrus definetly deserved the worst influence award. Its the concept that she posig sexily, at 16? Thats wrong. And taylor lautner is a guy. Have you ever been to a pool?

I get where your coming from, but the situations were just a little different. Miley had been doing her show/music for a while, and was supposed to be an idol for kids/preteens, while Taylor whatever his name is was in Twilight, which is aimed at teen girls, who love a shirtless guy and can watch something of the sort without (most) parents freaking out.

Yes. Taylor is a guy. Where did I say he wasn't? :c
Well hey - it's just my opinion. Like I said in my journal if you've read it - I'm not saying either one of them is a big deal. I don't care what the gender of the person is that's topless if that's their job. I just thought it was unfair the way things went.

By the way; Miley had to pose like that for the magazine because that's obviously what the photographers asked her to do. When models do that for photoshoots, they don't always pick their outfits. A lot of the times they have to do a bit of what they're told.

Hmmmm, is Taylor a Disney guy? He's in Twilight, yeah? And I suppose sexuality is a theme in Twilight, at least there's hints of it. I think the difference is that Twilight is aimed towards a more sexualized crowd - pre-teens and adults, and Disney is well...aimed at pre-teens and children. And because Miley is part of the Disney crew, she's scruntinized for her more adults actions more than Taylor is.

okay..that's good to know? heh. x)
But I think a lot of stars are a bad influence - not just her. Children are too impressionable these days anyways.

She was voted the Worst Influence of 2009 by the people who supposedly love her and work for her.
