The Vegetarian Society has a very useful page on vegetarian and vegan sources of protein. Google them. Off the top of my head, eggs, peanuts, kidney beans, milk, and whole grain bread/cereals are some of the more common ones -- and Dru's right, just two eggs have about one-third of the daily protein a girl your age needs. They're pretty much nothing but protein.

I would suggest three-bean salads, peanut butter or egg salad sandwiches, and whole grain breakfast cereals. Also, I don't know what sort of vegetarian fake meat is available in the UK, but some of my favorite brands in the US are Morningstar Farms (especially the breakfast links and the ground beef) and Yves!. You might want to take a look at your local health-food store or food co-op, they'll probably have something tasty.

Why don't you talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about it? As him/her how to stay healthy and what you can eat. I mean, if eating fish is going to make you feel terrible, I'm sure there's alternatives. There's a lot of healthy vegetarians out there, you just need to learn to the right eating habits - learn about what foods and vitamins are going to allow you to stay healthy and stick to being a vegetarian...If that's really what you want.

I was going to be a flat out vegetarian, but I couldn't because I have a few vitamin defeciencies, so I'm a pescetarian.
    I don't think it's that bad, because there's an over-abundance of fish, isn't there?

I"m sorry but Berytni, that isn't being a vegetarian.

But, try vitamins and shakes. Fish are just like any other creature out there. When i fist became a veggie i went through similiar problems and my hair began to fall out and thin. Just try getting more protain into your diet

I think that eating fish could work. If it doesn't I would go see a doctor.

Personally, I wouldn't eat either. So yucky.

I'm a vegetarian too, and only eat fish once in a while when I'm at a restaurant or something. Try getting more protein from beans and tofu. :)

You're a vegetarian and not a vegan? Eggs are very high in protein. I ate a lot of that.

If it makes you feel better, fish don't feel pain the same way other animals do. Obviously, I understand the animal rights side of it, but I thought that might make you feel better about eating fish.

I never had the discipline to be a vegetarian, but when given the choice I eat farm-raised chickens and whatnot, animals that are treated more humanely.

You really need to be getting protein. Try bars and shakes, and looking up food besides meat that has a lot of protein. Cutting out meat also cuts out things that are good for you, so you have to do your research and be careful.

I think that eating the fish would be fine.. but you could just go to like walmart or where ever and get some vitamins and like drink protein drinks and maybe that will help but if all fails i would go see a doc.

I think that eating fish would be alright. And if that doesn't cure your headaches and make some of the paleness go away then you can stop and see a doctor because something else might be wrong.
