I find it hard to write an about me thing without coming across arrogant or whatnot. I never really know what to say and so tend to just leave it as short as possible (: (or write nothing myself and quote song lyrics or poems or stuff.)
I'm guessing some other people are the same (?). Sometimes its hard to know what you really want to say ^o)

I agree. but sometimes I guess people just don't know what to put so like what Donna Noble said, they just put some basic stuff?

As for me, I just randomly add to my profile whenever I think of something new for myself, so it's changing all the time :)

I'm Joanna. I'm mad fer it, I love hockey, I'm unique and crazy. I've dealt with depression and I have, in the past, cut myself, but my amazing friends and oddly awesome family have helped me through it. I don't like music you probably like. I'm obsessive over Oasis and the Boston Bruins. Don't like it? Too bad.
Now, that's how I'd like myself defined.

I guess some people just don't know what to write in those about me things without it sounding really cliché, boring or boastful, so they stick to straight forward facts about themselves. Mine are always really short and awkward, so I'm speaking from experience here.

My about me is pretty simple and doesn't express much about me. I like it that way. The way I see it is if people really want to get to know more about me, they'll talk to me. Until then, they don't need to know that much about me. The one I have set is probably the longest I've ever had. I don't like long about me.

I realy dislike it when people use things like your second example. I'm being honest here when I say I have never seen anyone have a description like that.
