I looked at the story and honestly I don't think it will be disrespectful.
You should finish it.
Write the ending that fits. I think it would be best to do that, instead of just leaving it hanging there.
Well, I'm not familiar with your story, but I've used both methods of ending my own stories. So far, I've only completed two, hehe. XD But anyway, one of my story I've ended completely, like, the whole story. And another I've ended; leaving it still open to interpretation, like you've just said. And finishing it at a nice angle would be good.
However, it's still up to you... :)
