Ignore them, I have short fingers and I play the guitar rather fantasticly

I own/play both the bass and guitar and I have the shortest fingers imaginable.
You just gotta find a way to have it comfortable and sound good at the same time.
Bass is a lot easier to play so maybe if you're just starting, you should choose bass.

Short fingers + guitar = absolutely not. If you want to get serious with that instrument, long, slender fingers are a must to land the more difficult chords.

Bass is easy to learn and it, too, has incredible variety, whether it may seem like it or not. I, myself, play guitar, but I still vote bass. You can grow into it. ;D

I play both, and I think they're both really fun, but looking at your list I'd say go with guitar. If you can barely reach the first fret on the bass, why struggle with it? You probably won't enjoy it that much.

You could try bass first, that's easier, cause there are no chords in bass. And only four strings.

Then again, there are some easy solos to learn a guitar. Like in the Green Day songs. :D

If you learn guitar first, bass is sooo much easier. I would know. :)

Well, there is more downsides for you to play bass, so maybe you should play guitar.
Although, when I couldn't chose between drums and guitar, I learned both. Just take one at a time, and eventually you will know which one to play.
