Like Looouise said, they haven't been sitting on their hands waiting for the issue to resolve itself. They've tried several different ideas to not only stop the leak but to prevent the spread of it. It took a while but they've finally found something that seems to be working. I believe BP is now looking to stop the flow entirely, now that they've got the flow somewhat "contained" and they're currently attempting collecting the oil that's already spilled. Many different organizations (and volunteers) are working on cleaning up the areas and wildlife affected by this as well. You can check out nwf.org if you're looking to help with the effort.

People are doing stuff about it. A lot of what they're doing isn't working, but it doesn't mean they aren't trying.

But I'm sure a Facebook group will do the trick.

Pretty sure they are doing things about it.
It's just that the oil has reached the shore lines, and that's only been recently.
But they are doing things about it. I guess you might actually have to go and read the newspapers or find articles online rather than watching a small news report.
