I completely agree. These things bug me too and so, I try to keep it in mind when I write. I like to read a story that has a love interset but, I like to read a story where the main character has none every once in a while. Those are the stories I'm wanting to read at the moment.
I agree with most of what you've said here, except for #4. I've read books where the author switched point of views every chapter and it was still a really good book (My Sister's Keeper is an example). It doesn't really bother me as long as there's a point in showing another character's thoughts.
Hmm. Good points. I agree with all of them except three and partly four. I like romance. Pretty much everyone does. Why? Huh, good question. Everyone loves to love I guess? And when I write, I like to switch perspectives, but I don't really like reading a book where at the end of a chapter it switches perspectives and I'm screaming in my head "NO! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO SO-AND-SO!"
I'm loving this. Awesome points. Though I am a romance kinda person I definitely agree that the plot can be ruined by excessive lovey dovey whatever crap. One of my biggest pet peeves is the existence of a perfect character. In my opinion your characters HAVE TO HAVE FLAWS!! It's annoying reading about perfect people.
Hahahaha, oh my God. I just read the whole thing and definitely, I'd have to agree with you one hundred percent. These are huge pet peeves of mine, as well. :3
