I just want to throw it out there, experience is key. Just because you didn't get what you want doesn't mean you won't later. With a bit of experience under your belt you'll be more appealing to the director. The first audition i had was for years ago for 'A Murder Is Announced' I didn't make it so I waited for the spring production of 'Little women' I ended up only as chorus, but I was excited to just be able to experience it. The next year I auditioned for 'the miracle worker' i didn't make it, but instead i did crew and I really got to have the director get to know me and she liked me a lot. Later that year I auditioned for 'the music man' and to my surprise i got a minor role as Mrs. Squires. Now we're up to my junior year and the fall play is Alice in Wonderland, as usual I audition and I wasn't really expecting much so when the cast list was posted I had to read it three times to be sure that i really was the Queen Of Hearts. Later that year our musical was Oklahoma and surprisingly I got one of the main roles as Aunt Eller. I actually had the most lines after Curly and I made history as the first person to start a production alone on stage. So just work really hard to impress your director and let them come to know you and trust you. Practice really does make perfect. I'm auditioning for Blithe Spirit next week, and I hope to be Madame Arcati or Elvira.
