Fantasy Fiction - Comments

  • Anything Dragonlance is highly recommended if you're interested in dragons and magic and whatnot. I'd start with the Chronicles (Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, Dragons of Spring Dawning) so that you know who all the characters are.

  • Tamora Pierce is a great fantasy writer. If you like medieval-like stories (you know - kings, queens, knights, dragons, magic, etc.) then you'll definitely like her stuff. I started with the Immortals Quartet, but the Lioness series is actually the first set of books.

Yeah. All of her books are pretty wonderful. :)

  • The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Or her Gregror the Overlander series. Both are amazing. Anything by Diana Wynne Jones. They're pretty much all fantasy. She wrote the book that the movie Howl's Moving Castle is based on. Kate DiCamillo is also one of my favorites, but her stories are always really short, so that may be a downside. Right now I'm reading a pretty good fantasy story called The Brave Story by Miyuki Miyabe. I think Cassandra Claire is pretty good. I don't think her writing is all too strong, but I like her stories.
