I think Americans wouldn't react as calmly as the Japanese since the Japanese have a culture were respect is a major priority to them. I grew up in an Asian home so every detail had to be carefully done so you didn't disrespect anyone. Not to be offensive to Americans or anything but respect isn't that big as in Japan which would be one of the many reasons they wouldn't handle this as calmly as Japan. Though the Japanese have such a crisis as this on their hands, they still care about others and are still as respectful as they can possibly be. Americans can be selfish but Japanese aren't as selfish as them. Plus crime isn't as high as in America so even in this crisis, the Japanese wouldn't steal from others or kill for resources. Being Asian and have actually gone to Japan, I would know the daily lifestyle. Being disrespectful to others; you mind as well call yourself dirt there.
Sorry for so much info xD just letting you know that the Japanese aren't the same as Americans at all.(No offense to Americans).
Even when there isn't a natural disaster, people in this country steal and harm others all the time. It's sad, but true.
Of course, I don't know, they could learn to react better but I don't see it that way right now after living here my whole life
