It helps me best when I'm off the internet or t.v two hours before I sleep. They actually keep me awake longer, unless I'm pulling an all nighter.
Make sure to go to the bathroom before you go to sleep, because that also helps keep me awake. I like to read a book maby an hour before I go to sleep; I find it calming, and it helps me. When I'm trying to sleep, I usually count backwards from 100.

I always drink tea or coffee, I know they're supposed to wake you up but they
make me tired.., listen to one song very low volume on repeat, Open my laptop
next to my bed & set it to a screen saver of animated fish swimming around & I just
lay there, staring at the fishies and listening to the song :)

I ALWAYS have that problem!!! There's nights where I don't sleep at all.
Here's what I do that work most of the time: Take a hot shower as in HOT. Immediately after drink tea (for me chamomille works wonders...or sleepy time)or coke. Lay on the floor with covers or w/e and put on some even tempo'd music (ex.: the science of selling yourself short by less than jake followed by old yellow bricks by the arctic monkeys followed by I will follow you into the dark) so I can barely hear it. Close your eyes, find that sweet spot of comfort and just listen to the music w/o focusing too hard.

V I always imagine myself in a story to help me sleep!

I suggest having one leg outside of the blanket, turning your pillow(s) over to the cool side, and staring into the dark until your eyes are tired of being open.

    Imagine yourself in a story?
    Listen to soothing sounds/music?
    Count sheep?
