...The reason her voice sounds like that is because she had completely destroyed it by forcing herself to throw up multiple time a day. She had ruined her vocal chords, and she was the only one who knew why at that point. The song is completely raw, that's why I love it, because it's her singing when she's in pain and at her lowest point, and nobody knew, so nobody could help her.

I agree that her vocals in Skyscraper aren't the best she's done and she could have done a lot better, but I personally love the song. The lyrics are touching and I think the emotion she put into the song makes up for the vocals. I think Skyscraper is one of the best songs she's done.

I think people like it so much because of the lyrics that they don't pay attention to the way she sings it. Maybe that explains the grammy comment on Tumblr.

I have to agree though, not her best tunes, but probably her most heart felt song.

She recorded it hen her voice was out of tune. And then she re-did it after her treatment when her voice was much better, but she said it didn't sound the same.

Frankly, I agree with you. Her voice in the song could have been better. I do like what she was trying (did?) portray in the song though. It's a good message.

I watched an interview this morning and she recorded it when she hadn't gone into rehab for eat disorders, cutting and depression. She started crying during the song when they recorded it and she re-did it after she got out of rehab and she didn't think it had the same emotion, so they kept it. That song is about how she really felt and her raw emotions.

sounds like she's crying or just finished crying maybe that just suits the lyrics?

Once something is hyped up, it never reaches your expectations, but I do like that song. :)
