I've been a vegetarian for almost three, healthy years. I agree with what you're doing! Don't let ANYONE bring you down! People will always give you crap for it, but you get to fall asleep with a murder-free mind. Tofu is great- you can make it taste however you want. I personally LOVE morning star food. There are so many amazing, meatless dishes you can make. I wish you the best of luck! Stay strong, & always fight for what you believe is right! ((& for those who want to have a debate on your new lifestyle, get FACTS, because you can poke a hole in EVERY remark they make. ;]))July 20th, 2011 at 09:12am

Unless she found a way to get a sufficient amount of iron then cutting down on the meat probably didn't help much. My anemia is the only thing keeping me from being vegetarian. If I could be vegetarian and know that I wasn't going to end up in the hospital I would. It is sad though what the slaughterhouses are doing, I'll give you that much.July 20th, 2011 at 08:40am

Tofu is really good. Morning Star is your bestt chance at veggie food. Talk to a nutritionist first you have to check you're healthy enough for it. I've been a vegetartian for almost 3 years now & donating blood was a fiasco.
At school you're lucky if the salads don't have chicken or bacon bits on it.
Veggie food is expensive, morning star is $4 a box just something to keep on mind.
My body didn't handle the transition well but I wanted to so this but I had terrible stomach aches for about a month.
I'm not trying to discourage you from it but there's a lot of things you're giving up.July 20th, 2011 at 08:35am -
If you watch some of the videos from slaughterhouses, you'd understand why I feel it's selfish and cruel. If regulations where updated for what's allowed, then I might feel differently. There's meat subsitutes that you can eat, so you can still get iron. I also plan on taking viatimins. I understand if you're anemic, my bestfriend is, so she just cut down on the amount of meat she eats. It's still helping to at least cut down.
I didn't mean to offend anyone!July 20th, 2011 at 08:15am -
if the whole world were vegetarians, we'd be overpopulated with animals. :3July 20th, 2011 at 08:03am

Humans are omnivorous, that's why we eat meat. Pretty much just ~snobbery~ to say that it's selfish and cruel. My nutritionist told me that I can't go vegetarian for health reasons. Also, it's extremely expensive to eat veggie, and not everyone can afford it.July 20th, 2011 at 07:39am

I almost died becoming a vegetarian. I lost my hair even. I'm still recovering, it's been like three years.
I don't think it's fair that you wrote its "selfish and cruel" to eat meat. I have to eat meat or I will die. Iron supplements do not work and I cannot take them. I'm extremely anemic and it's got to the point if I gt cut or scraped it will bleed for hours.
I had surgery and I bled for two days. That's how bad it was.
So if you do choose that life style, take supplements and eat a lot of peanut butter. Also tofu is delicious! I love the stuff.July 20th, 2011 at 07:27am -
Tofu's not bad. You just gotta mix it with some other stuff to add flavor to it. Also, Morning Star makes all kinds of frozen meals and "burgers" and "chicken" and stuff that are really good.
I've been vegetarian for four years.July 20th, 2011 at 07:27am -
If you're seriously considering taking on a vegetarian lifestyle, you should definitely see a nutritionist. Selfish and cruel as it may seem to you, you get crucial iron from eating meat. Without it, you're going to have to start taking iron pills to get what you need. I'm sure there are a few other things you'll need a nutritionist's advice on as well.
I support your decision and choice, I just want to make sure you make the transition the healthy way.July 20th, 2011 at 07:19am
I still consider becoming a vegetarian now. My advice to you is talk to a doctor before taking iron tabs or anything like that because you can have too-much iron. Even with my fatigue and lack of iron they advised me not to have supplements. Mushrooms and nuts are great with supplying you with the nutrients that red meat normally provides
Goodluck :)
