Well he doesn't have a phone... we talk using our schools website and I sent that message last night and he still hasn't responded

He is probably doing something, not looking at his phone too often (which is on silent, suggesting this because I do this...I don't know why but I do), he is probably waiting to respond just to make himself seem 'hard to get', or his cell phone is crap and doesn't get messages quickly.

A lot of my friends phones suck and I get the message so late. Maybe your phone sucks? Did you check to make sure the message was actually sent?

Maybe he fell asleep?

He could just be busy. You might be overreacting a bit. Wait a while and see if he responds.
