It's not a strict limit, but the journals with like 10 gifs and captions wouldn't be acceptable.
We'll make a site update post (like the staff recruitment thread) when we do the switch with all the new guidelines and instructions. (like I said though, it won't be a huge change in terms of how you actually post)
What's considered substantial content would depend on the category. A lot of journals posted now will probably fit into the "daily life" category, but wouldn't be substantial enough for politics, or science per say.
Things like posting a bunch of irrelevant images or gifs won't be ok in blogs anymore, we want to shift the focus to writing again. But for the most part, as long as you pick the right category, most thinks are substantial.
And I think Dujo has already made up his mind that old journals won't be visible unless you repost them, sorry. I support that too, it would throw a hitch in the new system.
And the time you have been on Mibba doesn't really hurt you, but it can help out older users. But, there are some users who have been around for maybe four or five months who submitted strong applications as well.
Kurtni I was wondering if people who have been on mibba for a few years will have a bigger chance of getting a position rather than someone who has only been here a few months. :)
=( I like to kind of think my old journals tell a story, of sorts. D'aw. Can't there just be an "uncategorized" category or even a set "old journals" category that all our old journals can automatically be put into?
We're just keeping them around so you can have access to them, in case you needed them or wanted to repost them. Old journals won't meet the requirements (not just in terms of rules, but information/categories/etc.) of blogs, so we have to start fresh. You can always repost the important ones.
Kurtni - ...But I like having all my journals, past and present, available for others to read. Otherwise, what's the point in keeping them around online at all? o.0 That actually makes me kind of sad.
I don't want to promise an exact date, but near future certainly. Don't worry though, it will be a nice change. The only real differences will be you can create blog layouts, have multiple themed blogs, and categorize your entries. And we'll be stricter on enforcing the substantial content and profanity rules.
I applied to be a journal moderator. I'm very happy mibba is looking for more staff, it'll really be a big help around the site to have more people enforcing the rules. I really admire Kurtni and Audrey right now, both of them must have so much patience to deal with all the applications they must be getting at the moment. :3
Yeah, we do look at your past journals as a reference.
Though, I wouldn't put too much effort into cleaning them all up (especially if you have tons), because we're transitioning to blogs soon, and then only you will be able to see your old journals.
The only problem with deleting journals, as opposed to cleaning them up, is that if you've applied for journal mod, the admins have no history of your journals to judge from.
Hina - You could always do a mass deletion with your journals. Start over new and stuff. They could always be saved on your tumblr(s) and deleted here.
