Not offense, but he sounds a little childish. I wouldn't let it upset you because you know it's not your fault, if it wasn't working because you were around too much he could have easily told you to get lost and made an effort to spend time with your cousin so it was just the two of them but it seems like he just wanted someone to spend time with when it was you and his brother so he wasn't the third wheel but when it came time to be him and her together, alone, he bailed.
I personally would just let things settle and maybe in a few weeks figure out what went wrong or even ask his brother but right now, worry about your cousin and make sure she's okay and don't let it bring you down. When you're both in tip top shape, then talk to him but only if you really want too, you know?
