First step is to lower your initial expectations. Don't look at guys for their potential for romance or to spend your life with. You're 14 kiddo. Look for someone who's going to be fun to hang out with. Someone you can enjoy being around. If it develops naturally from there, it's a sure thing. In the early stages of a relationship don't expect these grand romantic gestures, it's dumb to rush things like this. Just let relationships happen, don't force them, hang out with someone you wouldn't have thought of before. Just have fun.

    I agree with lion

my bf is actually significantly older than me cause even now I still prefer older guys. At my age (18) although most guys and girls have matured it's still not quite enough for me and most of us are confused about life what they want to do who they want to be etc etc and I'd rather just have my bf whose already been there done that.

I however wouldn't advise dating more then 2 years older than you until you're at least 17 because before that there's usually a reason a guy needs to date that far out of his age group and it's usually not a good one.

v I agree. Totally. I have a tenancy to go for older guys because they're more mature. But I have a hard time getting them to take me seriously. I don't think I'll get into any serious relationship for awhile..

Yes, eighty-five to ninety percent of fourteen-year-old guys are total dicks. That's no secret.

Give it time, and they'll grow up. Chances are, unfortunately enough, you won't find a nice guy in your peer group. There are quite a few of them out there, but... they're outweighed by assholes.

As upperclassmen in high school, I think that's when they really begin to get their shit together.

Otherwise, I wouldn't touch relationships with a thirty-foot pole at a younger age.

    But, that's just me.
