That's a really neat, creative idea for a prize! I think plenty of people would be interested in that, provided you give them some examples of your work. :)

I think you should simply write to the person saying nobody else handed anything else in, and that you're of course going to comment on their piece anyway, and if they want they may have the first place prizes.
