I really did like it, I'd keep reading, especially if there's going to be some romance later on. :) I always love a back story to something like 'zombies,' makes them more realistic somehow haha, even though they are still zombies.
And if the font was a little lighter it would be much easier to read. Have you tried adjusting it using the story layout color picker? Because I know sometimes when I'm just copy+pasting color codes they don't actually change. Hope that helps. :) And make sure you're changing the text color under the right section.
The font was really tiny. Maybe make it a little bigger? I didn't find it too dark to read, but that's just me. The only thing I would suggest it going to the layout maker and I know there's a font color thing somewhere
