My heart goes out to the victims of the Colorado Batman movie massacre. :(

And I don't agree with the death penalty. I think life in prison would be hell. Possibly even making the person wish they got the death penalty?

I personally am against the death penalty in any case. There have been times where my views have been challenged and it has been hard for me to stay true to my anti-capital punishment views but in the end, I am always against the death penalty. I view it as inhumane.

I do agree with you about attempting to rehabilitate criminals though. So many people are under the impression that if we throw someone in jail, it will magically make them better but it just doesn't work like that. I don't know how prisoners are treated in your country but here in the U.S, they are treated like animals and often leave jail worse off than they started because of the horrendous treatment they received while incarcerated. I understand that some people can't be rehabilitated, but we should at least try instead of just automatically giving up on them. This is especially true for "criminals" like drug users. A lot of drug users spend their lives going in and out of jail because they were never taught how to control their addiction, so they just repeatedly give into it. Many drug users would probably stay out of jail if they were given a chance at rehab while in jail or even given a chance at rehab outside of jail. We should always try to help and rehabilitate a criminal.
