I remember hearing about it when I was in 8th grade. Everyone was freaking out, but I didn't believe it. And even if I had, there would've been nothing we could do about it.

Yeah. Thing with my school is that so many people know how use guns, and my town is very gun friendly. So that's what worries me.

I remember when the news about the supposed apocalypse came out back when I was 8. Being at the age I was, I believed it but not even a day later I thought it was just a bunch of crap. To this day I still don't believe that we're going to die tomorrow.

There was a also a shooting threat at my school and another school in my city. A threat was made at my school because of some party. I have to go to school tomorrow due to geometry tutoring and a chemistry test so hopefully nothing happens.

Very true. As Americans, or any nationality for that matter, we should realize that discriminating against and bullying those with mental issues doesn't help at all. It just makes everything worse.

I think in most cases people who feel like doing things like this do get the help they need. But all in all, mental health resources in America are very lacking.

Does make sense in a way, though. These people who do those things I don't think have the ability to feel remorse about it (if they don't kill themselves) for one reason or another. I do believe they're troubled, and it would be better if they were able to get help before stooping to shooting up places.

I was going to say more, but I completely agree.

    @ Airi.
I didn't mean it as brushing it off, and I apologize if it seems that way. I meant it as those who do it because they want attention. I do believe those who do it for attention are also troubled, but the the main idea is that that small percentage does it for attention. I know I'm probably not making any sense and sound rude or ignorant, and I don't mean to sound as such because I do agree that those who do it are troubled and aren't just looking for the fame (at least majority). I agree with you, and the way I worded it in my blog was terrible. I should've said it like I said above that those who do it for attention are just as troubled.

    And agreed.

    @ Phil's Baby Hina
    Agreed.

And I find it so crazy, honestly. If someone pretends to have a gun tomorrow, I'm going to flip. >_>

Sometimes I think when people shoot up schools or places where they can kill a lot of people and they are seriously mentally disturbed (not just depressed, not just whatever, but seriously, seriously disturbed) it's because they hate the world so much and are so miserable that they don't understand that other people aren't miserable like that. And so they think they're doing all these people a favor, by putting them 'out of their misery'.

    Just a theory, of course.

I personally don't believe in the end of the world until I die. That's when the world will end for me because I don't what'll happen when we die. :P As morbid as that sounds. 0_0

    >.> I've had a lot bomb threats and school lock downs when I was in high school, and during my last year of high school, some idiot had to pretend that they saw someone with a gun or some idiot pretended that they actually had a gun at school. It pretty much extended the school day much longer than normal that day. >.> I disliked being stuck in the hall way for an entire day. I missed lunch that day.

School shootings are much, much deeper than just people doing it for "fifteen minutes of fame". I was a little shocked seeing that in one of your blogs simply because it seems to be brushing off something as horrible as a school shooting. The people who carry out these shootings are deeply troubled individuals, even if they are doing it to gain people's attention. Someone who is sane does not shoot up a school for attention, that is the biggest clue there is something wrong there. It's like people cutting for attention, there is still a problem there because completely sane people would not feel the need to cut for attention. Completely sane people would not feel a need to commit mass murder for attention, there's a deep troubling meaning beneath all school shootings and saying people do it for "fifteen minutes of fame" is part of the problem of why we can't stop these shootings or at least decrease the number of them. I can understand why you can't understand it though. If you've never felt that way or dealt with a mental disorder that makes you do things you normally wouldn't, it's hard to understand.

With that said, I don't believe in the Mayan Apocalypse stuff mainly for the reason that the Mayans did not account for leap years. Since they hadn't accounted for leap years, we should have died months ago if they had accurately predicted the end of the world. This whole thing is just paranoia and fear in the gullible speaking. I'm hoping I don't get any of those people at work tomorrow though. v.v

Well the planets are supposed to align tomorrow during the solstice so...that also has something to do with people believing. Personally I don't believe in it.

Wow, that's crazy about your school. My old high school also got some warning about some violence that may happen...Though the school was closed today due to the weather and I'm sure it will tomorrow too which is the last day.

I think people shoot up schools for different reasons. They were bullied, not liked, ignored, anger issues, have a mental issue, or...just don't care about the value of human life...

    @ little motorkitty;
That's true. But also, I think there are those who do it for the attention. With that though, I would say they're still troubled. Does that make any sense?

I doubt that anyone who shoots up a school is doing it for the fame, they're no doubt extremely trouble in the head and don't do it to gain anything.
