I'm sorry about your friend but what the police are doing is right, they're taking standard precaution against a threat of mass murder. Threatening to commit mass murder is terrorism and the police are right to charge him with making terrorist threats, because that's exactly what he did. It's not ridiculous, it's protocol. It's the law. You cannot threaten to commit mass murder for any reason, you will be charged with making terrorist threats or making felony threats. It doesn't matter if he didn't mean it or not, it was still a threat of mass murder. Every threat of mass murder must be taken very seriously, the police are doing the right thing.

However, your friend does sound mentally unstable so I hope the police will get him mental help instead of just leaving him to rot in prison. He needs mental help, not to be left to rot in jail and someday be released back into society unhelped. I do hope your friend will get the help he sounds like he desperately needs.

After 9/11, when I was a kid, in what, 3rd grade? Some school bully was ticking me off, so instead of saying, "Stop it or I'll kill you," I said, "Stop or I'll blow your head off" trying not to say the word kill. Well, she ratted on me and I get a suspension. And yet that same year people threatened to kill each other left and right.

The system is screwed up. I wasn't the bully and yet I got in trouble. It was not fair and unjustified.

It's very scary. But I also know my friend was only saying empty threats. I think they are giving us off tomorrow, because most people said they weren't coming to school anyways because of the threats....

A...terrorist? That's so scary to think about the swat team doing that, calling him a terrorist. That's really scary...

I'm sorry about your friend. My old high school's also been threatened. Good thing they had today off and hopefully will have tomorrow off too, even with finals...

Someone needs to say something about the fact that he's emotionally unstable so he can be checked out... I really hope everything settles for the best.

What the hell? Why a terrorist charge?
Last week, the day before the shooting in CT to be exact, a student from my school had tried to burn it down and caused some damage to the classroom. He got 10 day suspension but other than that he'll be back in school after Winter Break.
