Oh, right. Haha. Well, as far as I remember, there really isn't much of scenes like those on Supernatural. Just a lot of really freaky ghosts, apparitions, etc.

Well by gore I mean like... people being cut open, things like that. Blood I guess is okay, I can hide during those parts, other things... eh, not really. LOL.

    1. I just watched it last night and even though I was a huge follower of the LOTR movie trilogy (attempted the books but hey, I was twelve and the books were huge!), I reckon you can understand it without the movies to back you up.

    2. Honestly, Supernatural is not gory or bloody at all. Okay, maybe to movie buffs who don't like dark and supernatural themed stories, they might be but I've been watching it avidly and I don't notice any blood. So maybe, a six?

    1. you'll get along with no prior knowledge, i think, i haven't read the book and they explained what was going on pretty clearly.
    2. it's really not that gory at all, but i am obsessed with supernatural. some episodes CAN get like... soft core gore, but nothing you'd have to shield your eyes over.

    NOW I'M CONFUSED.

So, there's the LoTR, plus The Hobbit is also a trilogy? Is the one that's out part of that, or...? HELP OMFG I NEED A DIAGRAM FOR THIS MESS X'D

Most of the themes in The Hobbit also appears in LotR. So if you think "wowza, wants to see that", then you should have no problem getting into LotR. Also keep in mind that The Hobbit has also been turned into a trilogy, so it's not like you'd have to see fewer movies. And they're not much shorter than the LotR films.

That's what I figured someone would tell me lol. I need to rethink this. I thought of just reading the movie plots online or something lmao. I know it's not the same, but. Lol.

    @ Bonkers.
That's helpful to me. Thank you :)

    @ colibri
The LoTR is not something I could ever get into. Even reading The Hobbit... I thought it was okay. Maybe one day I'll try again, not sure.

But when I saw the commercial for the movie I knew I definitely wanted to go see it lol.

    Thank you :)

There's not too much blood and gore, but it is mostly them hunting creatures who mostly kill people so I would say there's like 7 rating of blood and stuff, but if you're invested in the characters then you barely notice it.

I read the trilogy before Hobbit, actually, because my bookstore didn't have The Hobbit for years and this was before I discovered online buying. The Hobbit is a lot easier to read and I find it a little better but only because of Smaug. The Fellowship starts out a little slow but it gets better once the journey really begins. It's definitely worth it. (I also only just got The Silmarillion. I'm a bad fan)

    1. Colibri answered it. :3
    2. It really depends on the episodes... sometimes it can be really gory like the episodes with shapeshifters gross me out and I have to struggle to get through them... and sometimes there's no gore at all, so I would say between 4-6/10. Sorry I'm not that helpful.

The Hobbit is a prequel, you don't need any prior knowledge. However, it does in a sense reference a lot to the LotR movies in characters that appear in this as well as the trilogy and the intro would not at all mean the same if you don't know what's going on. Personally, I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all on the same level without having seen the LotR trilogy first.

I figured it did. I remember trying to read The Hobbit in eighth grade but never got into it. Lol.

I will try the actual LotR series one day. Maybe this summer x]

    Thank you! :)

The Hobbit comes before the LoTR series. I don't think you'd need prior knowledge, although I do recommend the books and movies. (:
