@ Juno Right. I'm so sorry that happened to her! I hate when people steal others work. It's just not right. Though, it's never happened to me, ever. But I'm so sorry that this happened to your dear friend. You definitely care a lot about you friend and I'm sure she appreciates this a lot. :) I'm behind you 100% on this, too.
I don't know who they are, but it's not the first time this has happened to my friend. I'm really just tired of seeing her work get used and abused with nothing happening to those who take it. It would be different if they asked for permission but nobody likes to ask these days.
They take what they want and try to get away with it. And unfortunately it's happening to someone I care deeply about.
I don't want my friend to suffer because of this anymore. She deserves more than that.
The thing is, Mods have been notified of this whole ordeal and the person who stole the story has been notified as well, yet nothing seems to happen. Countless times. I, too, am fed up with this. It's ridiculous.
Thank you for bringing light to this. You're amazing.
This same thing happened to me about a month or so ago, so I know exactly how you feel. The person actually stole my plot AND stole the title of my story. But they changed a few things to make it look original. I was livid. But when I basically called out the person, they deleted their account altogether, so that kind of substantiated everything. I hope someone can do something about this for you.
I'm sorry you have to go through such a thing. Not many of my story ideas have been stolen before from here. Usually it was from Quizilla like 5 years back. Anywho, I suggest reporting the person.
I'm shocked that Mibba is still allowing this to happen and its becoming a bigger issue than necessary
I don't understand why people steal other peoples stories and ideas, I mean if your copying and pasting word for word then hell you have no right to be called an author. Thankfully none of my stories have been stolen or taken from me yet, it's hard for us real writers to get these stories down and a lot of thought and work goes into it then someone just thinks they can take it as their own? It's kind of called bullshit and disrespectful. I admit there's stories I've read on other websites that influence my own but I don't copy the whole story or even parts of it, I have my own way of twisting that idea into a new idea and different everything. I mean I can understand reading to get an idea but using the idea for your own use is wrong.
Mibba seriously needs to have this continuous problem taken care of because I'm too sick of seeing good friends stories being taken and not getting any credit for all their hard work :(
See I hate people that steal ideas and never give credit.
I was reading onlythegooddieyoung's story Anonymous and I came up with an idea similar to it but it had nothing to do with famous people and my girl isn't overweight, she's mute. But the story is similar in where the guy finds the story online and signs up as an author to congradulate them on a good job. I made sure to thank Kate for giving me the idea in the story. I did that first thing.
But even if they only steal some of it, something should be done about it.
@ Katie Mosing No one on mibba is stupid enough to steal anything word for word these days. They're just smart enough to change it up so they won't get done for plagiarism. And it's not just plot similarities, it's out right theft of artistic style and personal flare. My personal character....characteristics and the style in which I write them is being copied and replicated.
Alice, I love you bub. You know that and I'm sorry this is bothering you enough to have to post something like this. I hope you don't get in trouble because of me!
Urgh, please don't tell me it was me, I do a lot of cliche ideas and more than one came to me to tell me I stole their ideas, I'm sorry if it was me, I really am, was it me?
Right. I'm so sorry that happened to her! I hate when people steal others work. It's just not right. Though, it's never happened to me, ever. But I'm so sorry that this happened to your dear friend. You definitely care a lot about you friend and I'm sure she appreciates this a lot. :)
