I would never be able to foster, I would want to keep them all! I've only had two kittens, the other cats were grown up before I can even remember and one was a rescue kitty, I love kittens, they're so full of energy ^.^

Thank you so much, she is doing great at the moment and is getting back to climbing up the curtains, which isn't the safest thing haha
Lilly doe think she's the boss, even though she's the smallest haha

I guess some cats just don't handle it well. I hope she heals up nicely. ^^ Female cats, queens as I call them, think themselves royalty so they can be a huge pain the ass sometimes.

She seems to have calmed down, and ignores them completely now, which is a lot of a relief. I think it's helped that a couple of times a day we remove the e-collar so she can groom herself. We make sure that she doesn't over lick the wound, but she does seem to be a lot better about it.
Anyway, I found out why she needed the e-collar, it turned out she pulled out two sets of stitches when she was at the vet! She's a stubborn thing haha

If they're irritating to her then she is in distress and is in pain, pain medicines would be the best course of action. Even when I get ferals fixed I give them four days worth of medicine then release the back into the neighborhood.

I have no idea why she wasn't given medication. It does seem weird now that you mention it, they would give a human medication if they had an operation. When we left the collar of yesterday for a bit so she could groom herself, she nearly immediately started biting at the staples. She seems to be so irritated by them. If she doesn't calm down, we might have to take her back :S

    Of course,
That just seems odd to me though.
The apin medicines couldn't last more than 12 - 16 hours.
I'm an assistant vet tech, and I assist in surguires sometimes... it seems weird to me is alll..

I asked my mum about it and she says that the cat was given a lot of strong pain medication at the vet, and they would say it would be alright.

In Texas its law for animals, after major surgeries, to have pain medicine.
It eases the discomfort because cats are really good at hiding pain, it might be why she was digging at the stitches. Call your vet and ask them if there is any form of pain medicine she can have, it will help her immensely I can almost gaurntee it.

But here they give it to us for free.

She hasn't actually got any medication. She just came home in the basket with the cone on. She's been eating fine and hasn't shown any discomfort, so I'm hoping that she doesn't actually need any. Wow I'm starting to panic... do you think she was supposed to have some medicine?

    It's odd that it didn't work :/
What is the name of the pain medicine they have her on?
    Is it liquid or pill?
Ours was liquid, and it made them frothy at the mouth cause apparently it tasted so bitter.

Thank you very much for the advice, but it didn't exactly work with Lilly haha When we took it off, she was fine for a couple of hours and then decided to pull out the stitches, so we had to take her back to the vet and she's got got staples. Hopefully, she won't be pulling those out anytime soon!

I never use the E-collar on my cats.
Just make sure she doesn't lick at her stitches, they will clean them but unless they're oozing or it looks super irritated then they should be fine. Making sure she gets her pain meds on time every 12(?) hours is also important.

Love on her! It will distract her.
