I do think blood ties are harder to get rid of than just a name. That being said, a name is a name. It doesn't really matter if you change it; it's your choice. I can sympathize that you would not want to have the name of a man you have low opinions of. Maybe it's not my place to say this, but I think you should give him a chance to be part of your life, because like I said, you cannot undo what had happened and your "biological" relationship, or whatever, will always be the connection between you two. Maybe people change. For sure, you may never forgive him. But at least he's someone to you, not necessarily a dad, but maybe at least someone important. Yeah just try to hear his side of the story and decide whether he's worth it. Good luck!
