@ Vampyris Thanks for commenting. I wasn't like loan away when I first heard it, but I liked it. I like it more now, it's grown on me and I frequently listen to it as loud as I can now. It's pretty kick ass. I can't wait for their album!!! Did you see their box set they are doing? What do u think about it? I'm debating orderIng it or not cus it's kinda pricey.
@ SabbyHasAHeart I wish I could see them live!!! The only stop they are doing in Canada is Montreal and I'm totally on the other side of The country.Sucks for me. Lol
I love that they are an evolving band. I love the new sound and I'm excited to see how it all works out. I don't know what the story of the new album will be but I'm excited to hear it.
@ The Zac Ouch, yeah, it's definitely not as ass kicking/guitar duelling/ balls to the wall as were used to! I dont find it * boring* as you said, but I do find it very one speed. The song didn't really go anywhere. I think it's fairly good, and as you said, I hope the record is a bit more..yeah, just a bit more. Lol. Thanks for your comment:)
Haha! It's only been "Carry On" that's had to grow on me...and possibly this one. I think you're absolutely right about the song staying in one place. There were no highs or lows because it was just stagnant. That is not to say boring, but yeah, they didn't do what Avenged likes to do and have a random change halfway through or towards the end, just to eff with your head. Lol.
@ Vixyn Of Syn First off, i appreciate the honesty! I was afraid that when I posted this that I would just get a bunch of responses like "Fucking awesome song", or "OMG, Avenged is back, I love them!" which is all fine, but you know... Second thing, it made me sad to hear their music had to 'grow' on you:( I do think that musicallyNightmare is a HUGE album for them to measure up to because it was so freakin awesome, but I have high hopes! I do like 'Hail To The King'. I like the guitars, Shadows sounds awesome, I think the song itself has a good rhythm, the one thing I do have trouble with though is the teaser of that song that they had released. It kinda throws me off now when I hear that part, i think only because to me it sound like Maybe it should be the start of the song? now that could just be me, but It kind of dis joints it for me if that makes sense? And also, like I stated to Dani Gates, I feel like the song didnt grow, it just kind of starts in a pocket and stays there. Still good though, just not as epic as I thought it would be. What I would like to hear more of is the song they used in their other teaser, that one sounds like it is going to be balls to the wall!
@ DaniGates hey! No, it makes sense what you were saying. I think their whole big thing with this album is pushing their limits, trying new things, not getting repetitive musically....so I dunno, im very curious to see what the rest of the album has in store. I do like Hail to the King, I think it has some awesome guitar work, the general feel of the song is pretty good, but I just felt like it started in one spot and kinda hung their the whole way through, not really going anywhere. But I did like it, it just didn't carry the gigantic sucker punch to the solar plexus that I thought it would.
I'm sure I'm going to be unpopular here, but I wasn't absolutely insane about it. I don't hate it by any means, I think it's good...it just seems awfully simple and lackluster for them. And not any one particular part; it was the entire song. I find myself hoping that it will grow on me, the way "Carry On" kind of did. (It's sad that their music now has to GROW on me.) Anyway, I am proud that the guys are going to keep to their tradition of never doing two albums that sound exactly alike. I'm proud that they are deep enough, and talented enough, to do that. They dig deep inside themselves and try new shit, and for that, I don't think any fan will EVER be bored. I do think that part of my issue with this is that Nightmare was such a perfect album; how can they possibly top that? It was the way I felt about the self-titled album after City of Evil. COE was so brilliant that the self-titled paled in comparison. It happens to all bands: how could MCR ever hope to top The Black Parade? How is BVB ever going to do an album more perfect than Wretched and Divine? With that in mind, please understand that I am NOT insulting Avenged's new stuff. It's just not that impressive. Too straightforward, less complex than I'm used to from our guys. Especially with them stating Led Zeppelin as a heavy influence.
I'll be interested to hear the rest of the album. I don't feel that "Hail to the King" lived up to the expectations they built, but that doesn't mean that the album as a whole won't. =)
I, in all honesty, didn't know what to expect... Although it wasn't that. I do like it though. It does fit what M. describes. I think I just expected a bit more? I don't know. I guess more songs? More... riffs? Not sure, but just more. Yet, I say again, I do like the song. It fits them as a band at least. And perhaps they needed to recruit because of the drummer situation. Maybe they wanted to do something a bit more daring and out there? Perhaps a bit outlandish? Not sure if I'm making sense. But, yeah.
Go to their website. Its the first thing that comes up, unless it sold out already
