I don't think I've ever eaten at Five Guys but I'm definitely not going to now.

That's just horrible. I hope they get sued. You don't need to deal with all of their stupidity.

I've never heard of Five Guys, but I understand all of this completely. I work at McDonald's, and I've seen every one of these things happen at some point or another - and my store isn't even one of the truly bad ones.

Everything you just wrote... I agree with the below comment. You should go over their heads and report them, because all of that is entirely unacceptable. You're entitled to your breaks whether you like it or not, and you should NEVER work off the clock. If they refuse to pay you, refuse to do the shift. And if they try to fire you for it, take them to court.

It's horrifying, the sort of things that happen in this industry. I can't wait to get out of it, and I applaud you for handing in your two weeks. I hope it makes them realise how ridiculous they're being, but I think we all know better than that.

Good luck in your future endeavours. =)

Honestly, I think that you need to go over their head and report them. they are breaking so many LAWS by doing this that they could get shut down. Not having you on the clock is against the law. Not giving you breaks is against the law. Lying to you about raises in writing is against the law.

Document it all, get signature from co-workers if you can and either report it to HR and go even higher over their head. You could go to the workplace commission, if I'm not mistaken.

That is the most awful thing I've heard.
I worked at walmart and that was a sh*t job, but not bad like that.
I am so glad you're putting in your two weeks!
I agree with the person below, file a complaint or write up a report.

    Wow.
    That's just terrible.
I really hope you file a complaint of sorts after you resign because there is some legal issue going on
there with the fact that they blatantly lied to you multiple times and didn't give you breaks.
